Slow But Steady

Work is still progressing on Solar Cycle. It has been going pretty slow, but the progress has been pretty steady.

We are going to be re-designing the gui a little bit to make it easier to follow. Some people have complained that there needs to be a tutorial/how to mode. We thought so to that's why we put one in, but people have seemed to miss the button that says how to. So we are going to be moving that to the main menu.

Other then that the levels are progressing well. I feel that we are going to have to re-design and re-order a few of the levels to give it a more coherent feel. Right now some of the levels feel like they were just tossed into the mix. I think that a basic approach that starts with small levels and works toward big levels will be better. Under this new idea the levels in the demo will be re-ordered. In the end this will probably be a good thing as it will make sure that the first 10 levels of the final game do not play just like the demo does.

We are still looking for some kind of a response to the demo. We have only gotten a few comments and they were very minimal. Mainly about the tutorial/how to mode. You can view my my blog about the demo Here. It has some screen shots and the link to the demo. Also you can check out the GGE page Here.

We are shooting to have Solar Cycle completed by the end of the month. So it's going to be crunch time for the rest of the month to make sure that it gets done.

Solar Cycle Demo Released ......

Well finally after a lot of work on my part we have the demo ready to be downloaded.

Click Here to download the demo (~10 MB).

*Note: There is a in-game menu that you will need to use from time to time (To restart a level, etc;). You can access it by pressing escape.

Please tell us what you think.

If there are no major bugs we are hoping to have the full version out in a week or so.

In other news we have our first model pack up for download.

Click Here to check it out (and maybe purchase). The models are fully torque compatible. They are pretty unique in style.

We have a few other model packs in the works, including some DIF packs.

More information on that when they are close to being done.

*EDIT* ... Links were broken so I removed them for now. Will update as soon as I have the time.

Solar Cycle Progress ...

Work has progressed pretty well on the game.

We have a 10 level demo completed and so far one person has it and loves it. They can't wait for the full version, and that's a good sign for us.

Right now we are adding in a instructions/how to play section to the demo so that people can learn how to play the game quicker. Also we are adding in some needed music and sounds. Right now we have a really good Sci-Fi soundtrack going on and so far it matches the art pretty well. We are still trying to nail down some of the sound effects, and are getting close on some of them.

If all goes well I am hoping to have the demo out and available for download in the next few days.

I am really looking forward to seeing people's thoughts about the game and if all goes well we are going to try to get it sold right here on GG.

Sorry no pics right now. I will be sure to have some for my next blog post.

Solar Cycle Demo Soon

We are doing some final play testing and fixing any bugs found right now.

I am hoping to have the demo out by the end of the week at the latest.

Here are some in-game screen shots.

Let us know what you think.

Be sure to check out the demo.

It will be a smaller 10 level version of the game with varying difficulty and only basic mode being open.

The End Is Near ...

I knew that would make you look :)

Well this is my first blog post and comes with some good news (and pictures ... can't forget the pictures).

I've been a programmer for many years with the goal of making games. I now have worked myself into that position and am very happy with what I do.

Now on to the good stuff ...

I am glad to say that we are getting close to finishing one of our projects.

Details
- matching puzzle game with a few twists (more on the twists in a later blog).
- 100 levels with varying difficulty
- multiple modes of play (basic, timed, and xtreme)
- users system
- high scores

I'm going to save a few of the details till they are implemented, but it is a very fun puzzle game that requires thought to complete the levels.

Hopefully it will be out for play testing soon and if all goes well ready to be released.
