Skygen - New Online Tool for Terragen

It's been a while since I've posted and this time it's not for a game really. I've been making skies because of boredom using Terragen and I always dreaded the part where I open each image one by one to convert them to .jpg. I've created an easy to use website that eliminates that step.

tkam.bjwaymods-media.com/

BJwayMods Skygen while still in beta is an easy to use web application that converts the images given to you by Terragen into .jpg files and it then writes the .dml making it into a ready to use sky. After all is done it will send the download link to your email.

When I beleive it is done with it's testing I'll probably release the source code as a resource. Any Comments and Suggestions would be great.

Project Impending Doom - BETA Released

Ok I am announcing the multiplayer beta of my game Project Impending Doom. Project Impending Doom is a fast paced over the top first person shooter. This is my second release because my first release failed horribly and atm this version is liked by the people who have tried it but there are not alot of people who play it yet. The website is www.projectimpendingdoom.com/ Happy Fragging!

PID - Alas time heals all wounds unto thee

Today I decided to post some long over due Project Impending Doom updates and it's progress since it's first rushed out BETA and why it exceeds expectations caused by it's first failure.

First off one of the better features I have added is a fully integrated irc client that you can use to chat with people in an IRC Channel ingame as if you were chatting with someone in the same server. When you chat ingame people in the same channel as your Server Bot will read it like this:
<[PID]Server_Name> Player: blah blah blah
Another feature is a client bot that irc users can use to get the stat's of the player that it is run by. Some other features are TBA when they are finished but expect some unique features.

I have improved the account system by taking out the money system and the seperate inventory preferences. I decided to make an upgrade system a little later in development. Another thing the account system is good for is the Halo Esque game mode system where you can choose weapons, vehicles, change other stuff, ETC. Having compared that to Halo my System does one thing that the Halo system can't. This system has the capability to upload your game modes to the internet for other players to download and use.

One of the best additions to PID so far has to be the Conquest Game Mode. For people who have never played Starwars: Battlefront, Conquest is a mode where two teams try to capture the other's command posts by occupying them for a set amount of time and when one team captures all of the enemy command posts a countdown starts and if the enemy doesn't capture one by the end of the countdown the other team wins. Of course there is always the fight to the death approach to winning also. The command posts are also your spawn point and you can choose which one you want to spawn at out of any of them that your team captured.

PID is meant to be a very fast game so I added in the Terrain Occlusion Culling and the average Framerate for me is about 100 fps. At the moment the maps are all terrain because I don't currently have a mapper.

Another thing that happened recently is I made a fully functional website with statistics, Pre-Registration, Screenshots, Game Info and more.
Project Impending Doom Website - http://www.projectimpendingdoom.com

With nearly all of the problems fixed and the new features PID will be released as a Public BETA sometime at the end of the month to the public. It is being tested atm and tweaked for the public. Until Next Time.

Happy Fragging

Project Impending Doom Updates

Well I haven't updated my blog in a while so I thought since people are telling me too I will today. Some of the more major changes in my game are the new weapons which are the Rocket Launcher, Grappling Gun, Wrist Mounted Rifle and the near completed LRP (Last Resort Pistol. hehe). I also added a new Vehicle Called the Death Tank which is the first vehicle in the dataclass that I made that I like to call the Sticky Vehicle class. The Sticky Vehicle class is basicly a wheeled vehicle that can drive on walls.

The Grappling Hook Code was by Eric Hartman who is the Creator of Age of Time and the Popular Blockland. The hook works by shooting at an object and a rope type string appears between you and what ever the projectile hit. It has very impressie physics because of the realism and changed my game's dynamic compleatly.

I also added a Weapon Hud that Tells you the Name of the weapon that you have mounted, the ammo, and a preview pic. Another change to the Playgui is the addition of a Map/Radar/Compass GUI but i replaced the map texture with a cool lava texture because the map was not working right. Admin features were added so people who host games can have alot of power over their server like Bot limit, Player limit, Bot respawn Toggling, Muting a certain Player, and banning people.

The physics of the player are a really important thing for me and one thing I wanted was a sense of freedom to my game so I made the dude run Really fast and jump really high. That was the point in development when I thought that this game is not for campers. Although Snipers will be added anyway. Physics are a really important thing for me regardless of what they are for.

The look and feel of this game will be this hellish bloody type game where when you die you explode in blood. So I addded the FXdecal resource and have it working really nicely. Another thing that adds to the hellish aspect is how good the bots are. The bots I am using are the Jim Beffy Bots. I split the bots to so far 3 types: Killers(crossbows), Savages(Rocket Launchers), and Murderers(Wrist Mounted Rifle). So the respawn code I made Randomly spawns 1 bot. Something I am really Proud of.

Unfortiounatly this will be the last blog post for about 2 months because my parents freak out over C+'s on my report card so hopefully i'll be back in 2 months but for now here are some screenshots:
Death Tank:

Grapple Hook 1:

Grapple Hook 2:

Rocket Launcher 1:

Wrist Mounted Rifle 1:

Wrist Mounted Rifle 2:

Project Impending Doom Announcement

Today I have started my first game called Project Impending Doom. So far it does not really have a story or objectives except Kill or Be killed. Game modes it will feature are (Team) King of the Hill, Capture the Flag, and (team) Deathmatch. The setting will be in a Futuristic and Pre-Apocolyptic with varying ecosystems like jungles, cities, Lava Lakes, Arctics, ETC. The character will be a mix between a werewolf, a human, and a Velociraptor. Most of the weapons will be unique in their own ways and I am really going to focus on top quality for Maps, Weapons, and Vehicles. More Updates coming as they surface.
Here are 2 screenshots of the map that will be included in the Free version.
