London Bridge is falling down...

For the past couple of days I have been working on setting the correct mood for Witch Hunt and designing some buildings of the post war London. Finally I have made the model for the Tower Bridge, which has yet to be textures correctly (when I figure out how.) I thought I'd upload some screenshots of London and the Tower Bridge and see what you all think.

PS - It looked alot better before I had to remove alot of the bits because Torque kept crashing while lighting :(

To Do (in this scene)
- Create the rest of the buildings (London Tower etc)
- Texture model
- Tweak terrain
- Add finishing touches (crosses on spires etc)

Witch Hunt

Sadly Prophet has been dumped until a later time (when I am much much better at Torque than I am now).

My new project: Witch Hunt

It is the year 2050. After nuclear war and the onset of global climate change, Europe is a very different place to what it was just 50 years earlier. The Americas have fallen under rule of the infamous drug lords, Asia has plummeted into extreme poverty under it's reformed empires and the iron fist of the papacy rules the small strip of fertile, civilized world known as the Central Catholic Powers.

For a while the world appeared to have a new beginning of peace and faith, but when access to resources such as the internet, libraries and public schools suddenly began to dissappear from the public, paranoia swept through Rome, Avignon and London both with the common people and the papal government.

Word has spread that public hangings have begun in rural communities, where the "unfaithful" are being herded into concentration camps. Rumours from France are that the guillotine has come back into use and Rome has built a series of torture chambers around the Middle Sea.

-----
This project will be a semi linear RPG for the 4 Elements Competition on Gamedevs website. Production will begin shortly.

Here is a map of the new Europe compiled by Arthur Green who is one of the few commoners who still retains access to the Vatican, Avignon and Westminster archives. Therefore the map is incomplete and may be slightly incorrect.

Website coming soon!

Prophet - New Info

I am currently in the process of drawing some simple preliminary concept drawings for Prophet. I am hoping for a semi cartoon/caricature style of game, which is both serious and comical. I will also write up a bit of info about Prophet so that people can get an idea about what it really is (Prophet is a very open ended name I have noticed). Perhaps it will go multiplayer in Prophet II but for now I only want single player where I am better acquainted (I know that this would make a killer multiplayer game :D)

Prophet
In an age where the world is easily swayed, where the beginnings of civilisation and the roots of myths and legends are still sprouting through seeds and where order and anarchy are one, the ages of religion are begun. A man can rise from a peasant with no more than a donkey an apple, to a powerful ruler. This is your mission. If you are sick of living the life of a beggar than there is a simple solution with a easy customers and endless stock - become a Prophet.

The game is similar to an RPG with a third person view and a minimal HUD. When you begin you create a character. You will get points to assign to traits. (Strength, Speed, Stamina, Charisma). With more strength and stamina you can prove yourself in combat, with speed you can cover a greater area and perform "magical" illusions, with charisma you can sway people with your charms, increasing your overall score. You choose a name and then you are sent into the game with nothing but a loin cloth and three apples (before the time of currency).

After buying or finding or stealing some clothing you can then begin your religion/cult. First of all you click the New Cult button. This brings up a dialogue box. A list of options (which I need advice on) will be selectable to shape your preaching. Whether it be a dogma like Buddhism, Monotheistic like Christianity or Polytheistic like the Greek Pantheon, will be the major factor in your cult.

You then begin to preach by using different tactics. Your charisma plays a large part in how people percieve you. The better you know people, the better you can preach to their desires. You will gain Insight as you play. This will be displayed by showing small icons above the heads of the people.

Once you have at least three disciples you can begin the missions, or simply continue to take in followers.

The game is essentially an addition to a simple RPG. Much of it will be fantastical (killing magical beasts etc) with the ultimate goal of Theistic Emperor (eg, the Pope or the Pharaoh). Your disciples will help you like a party and then support your stories. Attracting a Bard will help. There is a simple class system involved.

Prophet
Bard
Aristocrat
Peasant
Beggar
Merchant

The player can be only a Prophet.

I will upload the concept art hopefully in my next entry. Please tell me your ideas and also advise me on choices for creating your cult/religion. Also I am looking for an artist and a programmer for my team.

Tim

(BTW I'm Anglican so I hope noone takes offence to this game. If you do then don't bother me about it, just ignore it. :D)

Yay I have a blog :D

Hi all.

This is going to be a relatively small blog entry for a number of reasons ( 1) I have never written a blog before. 2) I am only just beginning Torque seriously. 3) I have a heap of homework to do). I thought I should start a blog so that I can periodically tell people about the games and projects I'm working on with Torque (if anyone is actually interested in what I'm doing :D) or simply just to let it all out without going crazy with ideas all built up inside.

It will also give me a bit of motivation and reason for even doing these projects and maybe I might even be able to scab a bit of help from the wonderful Torquers here. If anyone has anything at all to say about what I am doing please post because I'd rather get constructive criticism than nothing at all (thats CONSTRUCTIVE criticism by the way :D).

I am currently working on a game called Prophet which I am looking for team members to work on with me, but I can't release any info right now.

Anyway for now goodbye
Tim

Also: Please contact me if you are interested in working on my team :D
