New Sci Screens and short movie

I had really hoped to be done working on these sci buildings a long time ago. (I see that my last post was from February XD) At any rate, I've just recently had the opportunity to start working on them again and wanted to show a little progress. The boring textures are still there until I get the geometry to a place where I can be satisfied but you should still be able to get a feel for what I'm going for.

Here's some screens

and a short video featuring my guitar playing as the audio track =p
Video

Like I said 5 months ago, my intention is to release a pack containing some sci fi buildings. Now that I'm spending several hours a day with it, it should be finished fairly soon. Let me know what you think of the progress. (you can see some older screens in my last blog post)

Edit: I forgot, I wanted to add. If anyone out there is currently looking for a level designer I'm looking for some work. You can reach me by email in my profile.

-Zach

A few more sci-fi interior screenshots

Just wanted to post a little progress I've made on my interiors. I've got a few basic structures completed but I still need to go back and add some details to fill the areas out a little more. Here's a couple of screens of some old and new stuff.

I thought Johnny Hill's suggestion to make corridors so people could stitch together their own layouts was a good idea. I think what I'm going to do is make stand alone versions of each building and then another version optimized to be attached by interchangeable corridors.

That's all for now, I'll post again when I make a little more progress.

Sci-fi Interriors

Hello everyone, it's been quite a while since I last posted an .plan. I'm starting to work my way slowly back into game development just as a hobby again. I've played with torque here and there over the years but have failed to accomplish much. I hold no ill feelings towards torque whatsoever, I'm just admittedly lazy when it comes to learning to code =)

I find interior map making to be the most fun for me where it comes to game design. Over about the last month I've been working on some a lot of sci-fi buildings. For whatever reason I just can't get enough of sci-fi lately. I think it has a lot to do with my reminiscing of Star Wars Galaxies lately. I haven't played in about 3 years but I have a lot of fond memories of how the game used to be.

Anyways since I don't really have my finger on the pulse of what's going on in the game development community I was wondering if there is still a demand for the interior .dif buildings as content packs or if the focus has mainly shifted to dts format for interior modeling The reason I ask is because I've been modeling with quark for a few years now just for fun but am interested in getting some of my stuff to the public. Heres some screens of what I've been working on. (Sorry about the image size for those on smaller resolution monitors.)

My focus is to put together a science fiction interior pack for TGE. I've also included a sketch of a robot character I'm toying around with modeling for the pack as well. I'm kind of just interested to know what people think of the idea.

Is interior modeling with quark still an important skill where newer games are concerned or am I wasting my time with dead technology? I suppose either way it's really not a waste of time because I get a lot of enjoyment out of doing it.

-Zach
