Now broadcasting from Philadelphia! Got an apartment and the internet, but I've been taking my time with the job hunt.

As an update on my last post, Hamish has renamed his project at MoonPod and posted a Developer Diary for War Angels.

Meanwhile, I've placed my own top-down shooter design on the back burner, as it's gotten too complex for my own good. I've started work and design on a 4X style galactic conquest game, as it should be simpler to learn with, and I can get away with crappier graphics.

I will also be taking liberties with the Xs, since I think the genre has a lot of room for change. I won't be cribbing Sid Meier for my design doc as much as Kim Stanley Robinson and Iain M. Banks. At the moment I'm not even sure if there will be aliens or faster-than-light travel. Lots of internal conflict, solar systems as vast resources, megapoli floating at Lagrange Points.

Just bought T2D, and will be playing around with it a bit between looking for an apartment/job in Philadelphia. Once I'm settled in someplace I'll get to churning out the game design I've been playing with for some time now.

There's a video from Hamish McLeod - from a currently untitled project now under the moonpod banner after Hamish got hired out of faind - which intimidates me. While the gameplay itself is clearly focused on things very different from my own design, the style and presentation are similar. Violencewoot!

Anyway, noone is checking this .plan yet, so I'm writing to myself. And I should be getting ready to go apt hunting. More to come.
