New stuff

Hello,

I haven't done a post in a while, so I think this might be a good time. Anyway, I was just going to mention two things in this post, both of which are rather minor.

W I D E Garage Games Website

Yeah, so I was really getting tired of having so much unsued space on my screen when looking at the GG website, that I decided to put GreaseMonkey to good use. What I decided to do was change the width of the entire website from the set 700px or so to the entire screen. I'm still working out some issues with the "What's New?" section, but the forums, blogs, and resources are all formatted to fit the entire screen.

You can get the script here: www.goofygoon.com/files/ggchanger.user.js
You have to have Greasemonkey and Firefox in order for the script to actually work. When the top bar pops up when viewing the script, press install to the right.
DISCLAIMER: I take no responsibility in the effectiveness of this script, especially if Rick or someone else at GG changes the site.

One of the things I really want to try is a remake of the old site, for those who are homesick. :)

I also don't know if GG really wants me doing this, but it wasn't like the script tracks orders or does anything else malicious, take a look for yourself. It was just that I hate wasting space, and for some reason fixed websites are becoming much more popular than ones that use the entire screen.

TDN
Whooh! TDN is awesome. Hopefully you've taken a peek, because you might have knowledge that others don't, so I would attempt to look over the articles, and do some editing for yourself. I added a new Beginners section under 'Torque', so it would be good if you have anything you want to add that beginners should know.

Yeah, so great.

Bye.

Well, what a great year. I haven't done much. I'm still messing around with things. I've got some pretty solid bases for games done now, but I really need to improve upon this year (eg. Art). Hopefully I'll have something to show for by IGC, I just get held back quite often.

I got the website up. Be sure to stop by and say hello. It's always nice to make sure everyone can access it OK.

Here's the website:http://www.goofygoon.com.

Thanks, and see you on the other side! :~P

It's me, Again!

Me, popping in again. I haven't written a .plan in a while, so, why not start again!
Here is a screenshot from the game I'm doing:

The game has some basic features, but I need to work on it a lot more in order for it to get some good gameplay going. It was created using Synapse Lighting and Tim's Env. Pack. I love the precipitation effects, but I don't think planes work too well in these conditions. Hopefully, I'll post some pictures of all of my planes here soon. Photoshop will be the next tool I buy anytime soon so I can improve textures. I do all of my interiors in Quark (no problems whatsoever), and Blender (takes some time).

If you are also doing a flying game/project of some sort, be sure to drop a comment by, I always like to hear how others are doing on projects, and whether or not I'm just a lost cause with this one. >:)
Criticism appreciated!

Long Time...

If you haven't already noticed (or cared), I have stuck around. Too many neat stuff to pass up! :D

So, I decided to buy the RTS pack, it just looked like something so fun to mess around with, since I'm not very good at doing games (go figure). I had a greart time playing around with stuff, I even started on a sailing RTS, but Torque crashed hard on me when I was using water, so I just kind of dropped it. If anyone else is doing a game like this, it would be nice to hear from you, because I think it would make an interesting game.

Current life
Well, I just found out that my great grandfather, who is almost 100 years old, is having major troubles. They have him on a venilator, even though I think he would be more happy moving on, instead of having to continue suffering. (but that's just my opinion, I really wouldn't appreciate having to continually endure all those problems)

I'm going to DC for the holidays, I'm not sure why, I guess I just want to see some of the new monuments, memorials, and new exhibits in the smithsonian, and other stuff...

Anyway, Have a great day!

Birthday

Well, todays the day, my birthday. I feel really wierd today, because I went waterskiing the other day, and the sun was awful. But the evening fireworks were nice.

Now I'm burnt to the bone.

Well, my presents include a new yamaha piano, which I love dearly. Also, I got a new Palm, one of the Zire series. it is really nice, and I'm sending over all the data right now. Other than that, it was just a couple of books and I guess I could consider my purchase of a new G-card a part of my Birthday.

Since I'm supposed to talk about game development, I guess I'll just say I've continued to go through the ever popular 3DGPAIO book. It has really taught me a lot. I hope everyone has a great 4th of July. I also want to thank everyone for a great time these two years that I've been visiting GG.

[edit]
Don't even ask me my age :P
[/edit]

My chair

Anyone have one of those fancy chairs? The ones with the air support, lumbar support, foldable, on-the-get-goingable(sp?)? Well, it sucks to be me, cause' I have nearly *none* of those features, in fact I doubt it has any features at all, except that it is wood, yeah, WOOD. The wood isn't even smooth at the edges of the chair, its rough. It isn't even that pretty either. It looks like someone puked on it while making it (I wonder why). So, why would I be posibbly be talking about a lousy chair that I sit on? About modeling, Programming, anything? Well, My point may sound far fetched (as I can tell how you could think it was), but actually, it's not, it is very vital to a game. You see, when working on progamming, coding, scripting, etc., you most likely will get nothing done, because the complete uncomfortableness of the chair, and it will most likely cost you ideas (ex: what you wanted to implement into the game), and time. So, I plan on getting a new chair (wow, that's my first goal).

Now, lets move on to some more important things, like stuff about the progress of my game, which will most likely make you just click onto something else, besides actually LOOK at it (yes, i do it too :). Well, if anyof byou know anything about my current game, good for you, and if you don't, I'll give you some info. Adventure Racing 3D is (self explanatory) a racing adventure game. You just go to different "worlds (my version of missions) that you go to, woohoo, sounds really fun, right?

Lemme just show you some *EARLY* SS of AR3D:
www.geocities.com/projectwebgames/AR3D.PNG

Yeah, compared to all yall's games, it looks pretty basic, but it is just a start. Oh, and forget the other buttons on the left, I didn't delete them before I shot the pic. Also, if anyone can tell me how I can get the buttons to stay in the same place at different resolutions, It would make me happy.

Hopefully, I can get the graphics to look a little better later. Please comment on the screen, and tell me what you want to see in a racing game.

Thanks for listening to me jabber, but hey, it is a .plan.

See Ya
BYE!

Frogger
