Torque X Lighting and Effects

Lighting Guru John Kabus has once again lent us his expertise and has created a full lighting system for Torque X. This shader 2.0 based material system features normal mapping, specularity, multiple lights and refraction effects. Use it with the built-in particle system to create dazzling particle effects. The Torque X lighting system supports directional and point lights, is accessible to custom FX shaders and custom objects, and supports mountable light objects. The lighting models are customizable, and two built-in example models are included with the engine. If you are using TXB, you can place and configure your lights from within the Level Builder.

Additionally, Torque X supports generic Microsoft Effect (FX) files, allowing you to design effects in powerful tools such as Nvidia's FXComposer or ATI's RenderMonkey for use within Torque X. The material system also has pixel shader 1.1 fallbacks for common lighting and texture effects.
