SpriteWorks 2.0

Versions:

SpriteWorks is a flexible application that converts animated 3D models in Collada or DTS format into animated 2D sprite sheets for 2D game engines, such as Torque 2D, Torque 2D for the iPhone, and Torque X 2D. SpriteWorks offers the fastest and easiest way to bring high-fidelity 3D art assets into a 2D game.

SpriteWorks provides an very easy way to convert existing 3D models into 2D animated sprite sheets. It’s fully compatible with existing TorquePowered 3D content packs. In minutes, you can go from an existing 3D model to a fully animated 2D sprite sheet, ready for placement within Torque 2D, Torque 2D for the iPhone, or Torque X 2D. Source models may be in Collada or DTS. You have complete control over the camera angle, lighting, and the number of frames that make up the sprite sheet – SpriteWorks does the rest.
Load Static or Animated 3D Models – Supported 3D model formats include Collada and DTS. Models can either be static or fully animated. For animated models, just specify how many individual cells the sprite sheet should contain and let SpriteWorks do the rest.

Complete Camera Control – Position your target model to create overhead, profile, or isometric sprites. Either use slider controls or drag the mouse to position the target model to any angle you want. Adjust the Field of View for different distortion effects.

Output Formats – Create sprite sheets as transparent .PNG files for instant use in 2D game engines or as .BMP files for additional post-processing support.

Anti-Aliasing – SpriteWorks employs a multi-pass capture process to produce soft-edge anti-aliasing so that sprite sheets look smooth and natural.

Variable Fidelity – You can produce large, high-resolution sprite sheets with maximum detail for your 2D player sprite. Or produce small, low-resolution sprite sheets with low detail for games that do not require much detail, such as real-time strategy games.

Normal Mapping – Create a normal map representation of the sprite sheet for 2D game engines that support advanced lighting shader effects.

Custom Lighting – Position the ambient light anywhere within the scene, set lighting color, and adjust brightness to add more flare to generated sprites. SpriteWorks renders models with self-shadowing enabled.
