The Soldier Pack - Customizable Modern Military Character Art

The Soldier Pack has something to offer everyone on the game development team. Experienced artists can use the Soldier Pack to learn how to build for Torque, beginning artists can use the Soldier Pack to learn how to model and texture map, and programmers and designers can use Soldier Pack to quickly get high-quality art into their games.

Ready to roll!
The Soldier Pack contains a fully rigged character model with multiple skins, animations, config files, accessories, and scripts that are all ready for use in Torque! There's no assembly required - just drop in and go!

Totally customizable!
The Soldier Pack emphasises customizability. Twelve full, unique character skins are provided, ensuring that you can use the Soldier model in any kind of modern combat game or simulation. Skins include variations of desert, green and stealth camoflauge, urban assault gear, and "terrorist" outfitting. The variety of looks means the Soldier Pack can be used to create looks similar to those found in the Counter-Strike, Battlefield, Ghost Recon or Rainbow 6 series. The easy-to-read documentation included with the pack also demonstrates how you can create your own new looks and skins quickly and easily. Full source files are included for the model, animations and textures, so you have the access you need to completely customize your soldiers!

Fully equipped!
The pack includes modern day soldier accessories, saving hours of modeling work and providing easy customizability. The soldier comes with an M16 (script included), and 3 additional, optional accessories: a rucksack, a helmet, and a gasmask, all with alternative skins and Torque-compatible mount points and corresponding mount nodes in the soldier model.

Flexibile animation system!
The Soldier's animations are based on a custom skeleton created with the Torque Skeleton Generator script. This means that the character is compatible with all Torque Skeleton-based animations, and vice-versa. The joint locations file is included to facilitate the translation of animations to and from the Soldier Pack. You can use the Torque Skeleton joint locations to create an identical skeleton in either Max or Maya, animate a new sequence, export to dsq, and end up with an animation guaranteed to work with the soldier. The mesh is provided in .OBJ and .FBX formats so you can import into your favorite 3D application and modify/export as needed.

Easy to use!
The soldier pack comes with a character customization GUI screen to facilitate switching between the 12 included character skins, and mounting and unmounting the pack's accessories in real-time.

The pack contains source files for the model and animations as 3DS Max files (version 5). The texture's source file is a PSD with all original layers, and the documentation contains instructions on how to easily modify the texture for your needs.

Features

The Soldier pack includes a professional-quality modeled, rigged, animated, and textured character ready to drop-in to the Torque Game Engine, full documentation, example scripts, and full source art!

Community Reviews and Discussion

Customer review from Richard Howell, May 25, 2007 at 09:24 GMT

"The model did not come with any 3ds or obj files and when I contacted Tridinaut about it, they said it was on the GG side. But GG's only support for this has you contacting Tridinaut.

The model is also a bit small in scale, so if you have a way to scale him up, you will want to.
