Modmaker Weapons Pack 1

To build great games you need great tools! Our model packs are designed by professional 3D artists with over six years experience in creating high-value content for AAA titles. Each weapon has been meticulously researched to ensure the most accurate representation of detail while at the same time guaranteeing maximum playability.
The Modmaker Weapons Pack 1 includes a collection of 10 assault rifles for Torque with many levels of customization and also comes with the Modmaker tool so you can create customized weapon scripts for your game!
NetGeos has created this set of high end weapon models that are perfect for any game type. They are designed with quality in mind, so you always have the best. The weapons included in this pack are famous the world over, and used by various armies and organizations as a primary means of offense and defense.
Whether you're an American Trooper with his trusty M16, a Russian officer with an AK-47, or French Special Police with a Famas, this pack has you covered. It includes weapons like the XM8, the experimental next-generation United States firearm. These weapons are crafted with realism in mind, but they can easily be customized with the included Modmaker mod tool. The pack has limitless customization options.
In addition to the great tools, this pack comes with Normal and Specular maps so you can easily pull the DTS objects into Torque Game Engine Advanced. Each weapon is individually handcrafted with no two being alike, and each weapon also comes with Level of Detail and an optimal polycount for not only good looks, but fast performance where it counts.
Getting quality models like this can cost a lot of money. Add in animations, and you're looking at spending thousands upon thousands of dollars. This pack brings that much value to your project for a fraction of the cost. Community Reviews and Discussion
Customer review from J.P. Berry, Oct 27, 2007 at 21:41 GMT
"The models are very high in quality. This is really what you are paying for. The textures are well thought out and the hands models look pretty good when they work right. Some of the exported models do not have the hands exported (AK47, no attachment for example), so you will need to export them yourself, requiring 3DS Max. I purchased this pack mainly due to the hands feature, only to be let down due to the fact that not all of the weapons were exported properly.
There are animations with the models, though they are very generic and not accurate to the gun itself. For the reload animations you'll see the hands pulling back a lever that is not there.
The ModMaker utility is really only useful for setting first person position and viewing the model. There are sounds available for the pack, but you have to dig around GG to find them, as they are not included in the download. There is a missing function for the zoom feature to work properly, I ended up scripting my own as this one did not work properly.
The support is lacking / non-existent. The publisher's website netgeos.com no longer has forums, and the modmaker.net site no longer exists. I put in multiple helptickets via GG to fix a crosshair problem and also a 3rd person visibility problem. I was told , " We are working on these and plan to release an update." Months later, still no update.
Overall I would highly recommend this pack for someone who is looking for high quality gun models with hands and textures. You will have to do your own scripting, sounds, and animation to make this pack shine. Doing this means you'll need 3DS Max. The price is great for the amount of models and the license you get. However, if you are a new torque user beware, the modmaker utility is unpolished and the support is non-existent. If the guys at NetGeos would just update the pack, and pay a little attention to its customers, they would have a supremely awesome product."
