DTS (Dynamix Three Space) shapes are used for character models, weapons, vehicles, trees, and other detailed objects in your scene. This format allows incredible detail and complex animation capabilities, but simplifies collision to a bounding box or few convex brushes.
Below is a list of supported 3D modelling packages, with links to their associated exporters and documentation. For a detailed overview of features supported by each application, see the DTS Exporter Feature Chart.

The essential trouble-shooting tool for Torque artists. TST Pro is a 3D visualization tool for the Torque Game Engine. It helps artists and programmers inspect their DTS files for esthetic and technical accuracy by simulating the in-game environment, and providing easy access to behind-the-scenes structures. 30 day demo available, full version $34.95. Additionally, Torque Showtool Pro is now included with Torque 1.5, or the 1.5 Upgrade!

DIF (Dynamix Interior Format) shapes are used for large, static shapes that characters can enter into and collide with in a detailed manner, such as buildings. This format is based on convex brush construction, and uses a number of optimization tricks to boost culling and collision performance.
DIF format is slightly different than DTS format, in that the exporter used depends on the version of Map format from which you are exporting, rather than the specific application you export from. For a list of more software available for DIF creation, see the DIF Exporter Feature Chart.
