by Alex Swanson · 01/03/2005 (12:43 pm) · 7 comments

Justin Mette is the co-founder of 21-6 Productions. At GarageGames, we're delighted to have such a close relationship with 21-6, and always enjoy working with Justin and the rest of the crew. This month, we finally got Justin to take some time out of his busy schedule and do a Developer Spotlight interview with us.

Read on and get to know a bit more about Justin, and his tips for making it as an indie.

GarageGames: Hi Justin, thanks for taking the time to talk with us. You're one of the best-known people in the entire independent game-development community, but why don't we start by letting everyone know a little more about you. What's your background like, and what did you do before you made the big leap and became an indie?

Justin Mette: I've been a geek most of my life. I started gaming in arcades at an early age and my first home machine was an Atari 2600. That machine served up my first all night gaming binge on Pac-Man

I'm not sure if Justin would see the comments in this article, but I need to ask this... you mention that Orbz 3 will be out early this year for Windows & Mac. Does this mean that Linux will not be supported for this version? If not, then I guess Slacker can't be a part of the game anymore as I no longer have Windows installed. Installing Windows, no matter how good the game is (like Orbz), isn't something I'd do anymore.

Awesome stuff ... I didn't know there was such a lengthy career behind Orbz. Makes me feel like I should keep on plugging to make that game which allows us to go indie full time!

Orbz reminds me always of "Marble Madness", one of my fav. Arcade game in the 80s.

Torque AI Pack sounds very useful! Can't wait to see more details about it. Good interview.
