To some, good solid advice from experienced professionals is just "pearls before swine".

Because other people who do not post a written comment can still rate the resource. Sadly, some people seem to delight in giving low resource values to anything that is not code they can use in their game...To some, good solid advice from experienced professionals is just "pearls before swine".

Good stuff, and I've noticed that the first comment seems to always be a 4 even if you submit a 5.

Uhhh.. no, its an average and made that way so that people can't put a 5 and make the resource 5.. it get's a 4 instead so that more people can vote and make it a 5 if they agree, it's more fair. It's been like this for very long
Other than that, really good article.

When covering the slide that is up in the photo - it was good to see some of the 'filters' that should be used to guide the selection of game ideas to work on matching Team/Tech and last but not least marketability. There was much discussion that success has to do with implementing ideas, luck and timing - the more you can have the right ideas at the right time and luck to partner with the right promoters the more you can try to ensure success of your ventures.

I totally agree with the "don't fall in love with your design" part, but the example given I don't agree with.
Completing 100 levels of something gives a much higher level of satisfaction than 99 or whatever. I'd be left feeling great for finishing the game, but left with a nagging "why wasn't there 100 levels" feeling. I remember finishing Bubble Bobble as a kid and feeling so satisfied ... rarely do you get that feeling :)
The trouble to extend the game an extra couple of levels isn't going to be that huge of a deal (I hope), and its going to mean significantly more to the user.

I've read this through a couple of times now, and its all great. Typically rather than comment on the good, I'm gonna make one comment on something I disagree with.I totally agree with the "don't fall in love with your design" part, but the example given I don't agree with.

@Vernon: The way I interpreted it, was that you shouldn't force a certain numbers of things. If you made 96 levels and still had ideas for 4 more then sure, but if you made 96, ran out of steam, and just threw another 4 together just because you felt you had to do 100, then you would probably be better off without them.

A good read. It's easy to find code, not so easy to find wisdom...

Thanks for the advice!

I was doing the innovation don't. I kept on thinking that if it is not completely new then I can't do it.Thanks for the advice!

How can this resource possibly be useful with just a synopsis? There is no link to content or data. Either the material needs to be made available/restored or the resource needs to be removed.Cheers,
Rich Wermske

edit:
Why does it say Average 4.0 rating when I put a 5?
