I was under the impression that the social security should never have to be used except for some government documents. Can anyone clarify this for me?

This is an excellent ressource. I just have one question? What's with the use of the social security number? Is this typical for all contracts? Or is it for tax purposes?I was under the impression that the social security should never have to be used except for some government documents. Can anyone clarify this for me?

The Social Security Number is an American instrument and may be different, but you are Canadian...

Yacine - you are correct: in Canada, your Social Insurance number is confidential and it is illegal for a non-government entity to require you to provide it for any purpose, except for reasons of employment; even then only if you are going on payroll, and *even then* only if you are given an official government tax T1A form to fill out. That's it. If you are refused a service or a good because you specifically refused to provide your SIN, then the requestor is liable for charges under several Federal Laws, including the Tax Act, and the Privacy Act.The Social Security Number is an American instrument and may be different, but you are Canadian...

If you feel your game is going to 'hit it big', don't use this contract. There's a couple of important things missing that should be in there. And as Erik pointed out, you definitely gotta modify it before using it.
(And for the record, I know a couple of people who would look at that contract, and tell you where to stick it. But I do think it's pretty useful :-)

Actually, this would be the first time that I've delt with a contract that required a SSN# - heck, my contracts with (NDAs, my VBA contract, etc.) didn't require my SSN#.If you feel your game is going to 'hit it big', don't use this contract. I quickly glanced over this contract, "Excuse me for that". I believe your missing a section for severability and of course the most important element to any contract legal in the United States "In consideration of" in the begining. Not bad though and it will deffinetly help many people out there who are inexperience in contractual agreements get a good idea of what one will look like.
