Opening Credit Image Properties

by Rhonda Smith · in Technical Issues · 03/25/2003 (10:00 pm) · 19 replies

I didn't want to post this, because it shows my ignorance, but after searching I was unable to find my answer elsewhere. I want to create new images for the introduction of the demo game (ie: where the garage games logo comes up now when you start the demo, our logo would show up instead). The problem is, the images are embedded somewhere in the program...I am not a programmer. I was wondering if anyone knew the properties of those opening credit images - any of the following information would be helpful:
format: .jpg .tif .gif
image size: 480 pixels by 300 pixels
file size: 30k
file names

Once I have that information I can get to work on creating our unique images, which the more technical members of my team can then add to the engine. Thank you in advance for any help you are able to provide.

Format: .jpg
Size: 800x600
File size: 50-70k
Names: gg_logo.jpg, torque_logo.jpg

Those images are found under example\rw\client\ui for Realm Wars, for the old FPS demo I assume example\fps\client\ui or something like that.

You can make the files higher or lower resolution, but the lower the resolution the more blurry it will look on higher res screens. You do want to keep the same 4:3 proportions though. 800x600 is probably good enough, but I guess you could do 1024x768 or something like that.

You can change the names to whatever you want, they are specified in example\rw\client\ui\StartupGui.gui and example\rw\client\init.cs (Again might be "fps" instead of "rw" there)

It took me a while to figure out how to change those images as well, and I *am* a programmer...

You can change the filename of the logo in [realmwars-dir]\example\rw\client\init.cs\ in the function displaySplashSecondPage().

I hope that helped,

Stefan.

Edit: removed double information

In case anyone was interested, I did manage to find the files with your help and have started working on them - the results are impressive...to me at least ;)

www.abbadons-curse.com/gg_logo.jpg Hasn't had it's text added to it yet, but still.....

and

www.abbadons-curse.com/torque_logo.jpg

Both still need work, but it's nice to start the demo ap up and see some of our graphics instead of the standard ones, thanks again!

Rhonda, you can create a proper URL link by using the following tags (provided they display properly)

[ url ]http://www.garagegames.com[ / url ]

It worked. :) Just remove the spaces when you use the URL tags.

LoL I am pretty cute(I model so I'm not being vain), but that girl is just a computer generated chicky.

Glad peeps like it - I can't wait to get some shots from within the engine myself.
