For example a game developer position for sony, konami, capcom, are advertising for entry level game developers that needs a degree + demo. Other than a degree, how good does a demo have to be? if possible please provide links to demo games from ENTRY level developers. thanks

Most colleges won't teach you game programming. There is some but limited amount of programming usefulness typical college C++, Data Structures, Math, etc. classes will have for games. If can find an class on OpenGL or Direct3D programming, sign-up ASAP.

Here's a big hint. If you are senior or in grad school, apply for a "special project" (as opposed to "research" or a thesis). You'll need a professor's approval. Try to get atleast 2 quarters or 1 semester for it. Then, use that to do a MOD or standalone game. If you do standalone, I recommend grabbing Genesis3D or Crystal Space, for a game engine.

PS: Make sure you are comfortable with both C and C++.
