Hi,
I am basically Flash developer and now I want to switch to Torque 2D for developing 2D multiplayers games.
I have checked forum threads and GarageGame site and found good amount of information. Few things I want to confirm. I know few things but need to hear if I am missing something.
1 - What I need to develop 2D games?
2 - Networking support to develop multiplayers games. Is that feature avaiable?
3 - Any browser support like in Flash?
4 - What license should I buy to get started?
5 - Do we have complete game examples to get started fast. Games and tutorials?
Thanks

We have not nailed down a solid date yet. We are hoping within 2009, but will not compromise engine stability, usability, or cut core features to hit an exact date.

*A 2D Art Program - Photoshop, GiMP, etc
*A Script Editor - You can use the stock OS text editor, but for Windows we highly recommend picking up Torsion
*Source Control - If you are working with a team, source control is a very important concept. I usually recommend TortoiseSVN on Windows and Versions on OS X.
2. Real-time networking will be available when Torque 2D ships. The current version of TGB allows for turn-based networking, not real-time.
3. We are discussing support for embedding Torque 2D games in a web browser. We have already done this for Torque 3D. More details on this later
4. I'd first start with trying the free, 30 day TGB demo. If you are not interested in source code access, you can pick up the Indie TGB license for $100. Torque 2D is not available for licensing yet, but that will ultimately be the license you want.
5. TGB ships with reference documentation, simple tutorials, and sample games. The sample games are not a polished, final product which you can sell. However, they provide a good base.
Torque 2D will generally surpass TGB in features and usability. I'll be talking about this more in future Torque 2D dev blogs, but documentation will be receiving a complete overhaul (similar to Torque 3D's). This means new reference docs, new tutorials, and shipping completely updated.
