GMK features suggestion

by Yuri Dobronravin · in Game Mechanics Kit · 08/02/2009 (6:38 am) · 23 replies

If you have any ideas about features that you want to see in the future version of GMK feel free to post it here.

You can post virtually any ideas: from small tweaks to whole new subsystems.

Of course small features - like some specific hotkeys for the GMK editor, or additional parameters for Physics Pack objects are easier to add, though such features will be considered at first place.

Also please tell why do you need certain feature. For example, you might want new hotkey or button for the GMK editor because it will be easier to access some frequently repeated action and this will save a lot of gamedesigner's time.

1. I agree, Ron's and Deepscratch's Bullet Vehicles in Torque would be great to add.I will appreciate it very much!
2. Tearable clothes(There is such opportunity in PhysX,do not know about bullet) and softbodies. Bullet goes through a barrel for example and leaves a hole in it :-) Such cool stuff!

Different bot options along the lines of the universal AI starter kit would be nice as well. Some of the feature that would be nice

* Eight selectable behavior modes, including both aggressive and non-aggressive. Select from chase, guard, leashed, turret, teammate, NPC, KillableNPC, and escort behaviors.
* A team system. Have as many teams and bots as you want; with selectable friendly fire and free for all options.
* Bots can automatically change weapons based on your specific settings. Select from pattern, best, range, and random weapon modes.
* The foundations of a dialogue system.
* An advanced spawning system. Spawn or kill as many, or as few, bots as you wish to at any time.
* Advanced movement and navigation that requires no nodes or mesh. Bots can follow their selected target or use basic pathing.
* Performance optimized enemy targeting, selecting a target either by distance or lowest health.
* You can have scripted events using non-looping paths and trigger based spawning.
* Numerous distance, weapon and other variables that can each be set per datablock and/or individual bot.

I understand that some of this is currently already possible with the simple bot.
