Invisible Colliders

Is it possible to have some kind of 'nav mesh'? Like, I don't want to allow the actors to walk through water, or on steep cliffs, etc. This would be in both exteriors and interiors. As a secondary question along those lines, is it possible for this invisible collision geometry to NOT block ray casts?
