You get "A LOT" of Bees when You piss them off, Nevermind the Honey.

How the Documentation is Set-Up (Interface) is one thing, why the forum and the developer network are not on the samepage is beyond me.
How each Tutorial written by a different Person "WOULD IN THEORY BE DIFFERENT, LET'S NOT STATE THE OBVIOUS."

I was asking WHY???

Why a Player.cs file in the Gamescripts Folder
OR
a PlayerControl.cs in the Behavior Folder

MAKE UP YOUR DAMN MINDS
BE PROFESSIONAL? I PAID IN, I'M A CUSTOMER, ONCE I'M ON THE PAYROLL I'LL BE A PRO.

which is it?

each does the same thing?
or kinda the same thing?

WHY DOES JOE USE Player.cs Script
AND WHY DOES BILL USE PlayerControl.cs Behaviors

WHAT IS PROTOCOL! I don't want Preference I want Protocol.

I WANT TO LEARN THE RIGHT WAY.
THERE IS ONLY A RIGHT WAY.
YOUR WAY.
AND THE WRONG WAY.

Second,

I didn't buy a GAME CLONE.
I could of downloaded one for free somewhere.

I know what I'm doing, I'm attempting to build a 2-D ACTION SIDE SCROLLER among Many other back logged projects.

I'M TRYING TO MAKE SOMETHING BIG HAPPEN HERE.
Doubt me all You will.

I can assure You one thing, I'm crazy, I have to be crazy to undertake a project like this,
I'd have to be NUTS to pursue a dream.

I got tired of JUST PLAYING GAMES.
I haven't touched my 360 in months, I play my Nes everyday.

I want to bring the SIMPILCITY back to Video Games, THAT'S MY INOVATION!!!

I'm going "back to the future!!! Doc!"

I'm crazy enough to lock myself in my room everyday in Sunny Southern California San Diego and SLOWLY GRIND THROUGH.

I AM FUSTRATED.
YOU KNOW WHY?

Because they are two totally different files. Player.cs refers to the player datablock. PlayerControl.cs is a behavior for player controls (mouse movement, keyboard binds, etc)

I'm not quite sure what's going on in this rant, but the forums cover the entire history of Torque 2D/TGB and a number of things have changed in the various versions. TDN is a community resource that also covers different versions of the engine.

Just because you're not making games commercially yet does not give you license to run around like a chicken with it's head cut off ranting, raving, and shouting insults. This is a community of game developers ranging from people who are learning to program for the first time to people with multiple hit titles under their belt. A professional attitude, or heck even a courteous/civil attitude toward others is appreciated around here, and goes a long way toward whether or not people will answer your questions.

Everyone here is working on a game in some form or another, even if its just a personal project that will never see the light of day publicly. People see this as a working environment and it should be treated as such.

Now, that's not to say this community doesn't know how to joke around, because they do, and there's quite a few threads that are a testament to that fact. Having a poor, abrasive attitude, yelling insults and just plain bad netiquette will only get you ignored by the community and your questions left unanswered. I've seen it happen many times over the years, and I've even seen some of those members learn from their mistakes and become helpful members of the community. So learn from these mistakes and you'll get along fine around here. Keep in mind that starting a thread calling out the community with the same poor attitude and insult spewing after being derided in your last two threads about the same subject for your poor attitude and insult spewing is not learning from your mistakes.

There is a lot you will have to learn in order to use an engine to make a game. I don't know your experience but I can honestly say that inconsistancies can help you more than hurt you. By seeing multiple ways of doing something you will likely come to understand what is going on much faster. In game design and programing there rarely seems to be a clear cut "best way" to do something. You must be able to visualize a few ways, may do some designs and weigh the pros and cons of each code design.

TGB is basically object oriented (OO), so you will need to understand some OO concepts. Get a book on design patterns. Get a book game programming gems or some other book that goes into the mathematics of game design. When you get frustrated don't come here to vent, do some code experimenting on your own and find ways to carefully word your questions to a precise answer can be given.

When I bought TGB I immediately bought an add on pack to get me closer to my goal. You may also find yourself paying for music, sound effects, graphics programs, artists, musicians, sound programs, etc, depending upon how much of the work you decide to do yourself.

And further more, game development is WORK! The game will not make itself.

Why?

Sounds like your frustrated with your self.

I have many sleepless nights thinking through and working on my projects,
but this has to be the most unprofessional post I have seen in a long time.

C'mon, give Fernando a break.

We've all had moments like this when nothing seems to work right and your brain feels like mush and you've checked and re-checked and re-re-checked your code and you just seem to be standing still or spinning your wheels while the world goes by and you just want to scream at someone even though deep down you know its nobody's fault that you feel this way but the stress just builds up because you know you want to create something and you know you can create something if you only knew how but it isn't working and its supposed to be working but it isn't and you have to get rid of the stress so you want to blame somebody but you don't really want to hurt anyone's feelings so instead you blame the man who is a faceless entity in this case like garagegames even though the people who work for garagegames and the members take great pride in their associations with the garagegames website and community so someone always gets hurt but you don't know any other way to vent your frustrations and you must vent or you'll go crazy but really we must all be crazy to begin with or we wouldn't all be here trying to do something that would drive a normally sane person absolutely insane. . .

>>deep breath<<

I feel much better now.

@Tony - Very good point. I think I said the same thing in his last two threads:

First Post Saying We Do A Bad Job

Second Post Where He Calls Us Jerks

After I said something similar to you, he posted this. My sympathy has run out...all I'm left with now is my Bureaucrat Kitteh'

Fernando, I don't really see a cry for help in any of your three threads. There are so many willing developers here who can offer their help to try to clear any sort of confusion you have with either the documentation or the engine itself.

There was actually a very good thread posted recently about what TGB is all about, where it is coming from and the underlying ideas behind what you see on the screen. Check it out here.

If you take a look at what we are able to do in TorqueScript in TGB, you will see that there is more than one way of achieving the same goals. There is no right way of creating a platformer, or puzzle game, everyone has their own interpretation of how something can, or should be made.

As Michael, and others have comments, there is no need to create threads like this. There are pleanty of people here who are willing to answer your questions.

the TDN is community driven so most of the stuff on there came from the community not garage games. If you have problems with something on there why don't you try to post a logical question about it so we can actually help cause all you're doing right now is making people mad.

F H Jr., your curteous attitude and willingness to listen and learn really inspires me to take in everything you write. Looking forward to your future contributions to the tutorials and documentations. Eagerly.

i dont eeven know why we take the time to aswer this guy.

i know for a fact that the docs that comes with TGB are not top notch, but they have helped me to understand quite some things i idnt know when i started with TGB (i mean, i had ZERO knowloedge about the scripting language here)...

and when it comes to the comunity... if you come with clear and accurate questions, most likely you'll get the answers you're looking for... so, just cut the bullshit, and get to work man.
