Best thing in that game was...

Just fishing around here, not really looking for anything specific. However, what were the things that you look for in game of such-and-such a type? (Could be something as small as the spiffy red armor you found. :P)

If you wouldnt mind, pick one of the types (RPG, MMORPG, RTS, FPS, etc..) and post a thought or two about specific things you found interesting, or happen to look for in that type of game. Thanks.

For those wondering: I look at graphics first and foremost. If I find those interesting, then I will delve deeper into the game. However, sometimes there are games that do not look very good, but have very nice features that could draw your attention as well.

As far as graphics are concerned, Metroid Prime - 'nuff said ;)

If you need clarity, just ask!

As for what I look for in -

RPG (including MMO) - Personality through characterization and unrestricted skill building, both of which I've yet to see done well (which I have solutions for, hehe!);)

FPS - The most common in this genre, like Quake 3 Arena, focus on massive action and combat between players, but made just for fun, which is good when you know everyone is playing for fun (read Fun Frag-fest), but not to hot if you jump into a game alone on your own side and just tackled (which gave me plenty of reason to get bored of the game quickly as well). I'd like to see some solid story and a good reason to kill everything though (hint!).

Puzzle - If it introduces some decent alterations to the gameplay, it will hold me longer, otherwise it's nice as a mental sharpening tool (and also a good way to show up friends, lol). My favorite puzzle game, which could have used some good changes and been made better, was Wetrix!

Adventure/Platform games - Fun! Fun!! FUN!!! But only untill you master the layout of the game (for me atleast). Story, variety, secrets, and multiple changes in all the above add great bonuses for players. Of course, they tend to bring on nastalgia love when you haven't played in a while too (go play Mario Bros. 3 if you haven't in a while and see what I mean ;)!

Racing - I hate bad control!!!! My love for dirtbike games suffers from this :'( Gotta have enough tracks to stay interesting for a while. Any game that refuses to let you crash and total your vehicle, even if it's only cartoonish crashing, is just plain dumb! Weapons, when done right, add a nice bonus, but should have an option to be turned off if true racing is involved.

All I got right now ;)
