Lightwave compatible?

by Jonathan Champagne · in Torque Game Engine · 02/27/2003 (2:15 pm) · 9 replies

I tried a search on the site but found nothing, so here I go. Does the Torque Game Engine support Lightwave models?

rofl jarrod I think maybe you need a lesson too ..
if you select Forums from the drop down box by the title Search (upper right)
and type in lightwave why dont you tell me what it shows ya?

yeah but if you type anything else less contrived than one word it brings up NOTHING

try searching "lightwave plugin" or anything else that is not EXACTLY the entire subject line of a forum post.

It is easy to see new users not finding anything because they expect the search to work like a search would on any other commerical web site.

The search should return EVERY post or thread that has Lightwave in it if I entered "lightwave plugin". But it returns NOTHING

ok but ..
do you expect it to make words up?
as Noone has made a forum post heading with that in it

and solidifying my accusation are the facts found from searching for solely plugin

this would lead I hope anyone to immediately refine thier search.

Edit :
I did misread the final statement and I have to disagree..
if it returned every example from each word it would lead to even more sifting thru it ... words are filters here and you must use that knowledge.

I relayed that knowledge, that the search engine is BROKEN!

People NEW to the site don't know that the search does not work as every other search feature is expected to work.

If Google.com worked or better yet DID NOT WORK like the GG one, it would be useless.

And yes, if it finds NOTHING, it should then start widening the search to at least return something.

Users can not be expected to know what the posts are titled or are not titled.

Here is an extremely non-contrived example of how the search DOES NOT WORK as expected.

try searching the forums for "bullet", then search for "decal", then search for "bullet decal"

that and any other multi-word searches don't do partial word matches as expected.

then try "bullethole decal" that does not even match anything!!!!

the post in question has the title "adding bullethole decals"

Now the last example has 2 of the 3 words in the subject of the post and it still does not find it!

it is a shame that there is so much information on GG that is impossible to find without a herculean effort!

Badguy continue to be an GG apple polisher if you want, but it is unfair for you to to make new people think they are doing something wrong when the site search is at fault and not them.

All I am doing is confirming to the original poster that they are not crazy the search function does not work as expected, thus it is broken.

@Eric - only if you think the search forum function is broken ;)
