Here are some concept art pieces for orcish household items

www.nauris.8m.com/photo.html

I thought that it would be interesting to explore the world of "small items" using systematic approach. These are the first ones and are orc-themed.

Pascal said that some Elf items would be good as well, so next screenshot floods might be elf-themed :)

I hope that these will inspire someone.

Don't push your luck Greg ... we have nice concepts now... Let's take this one step at the time =O)

Thank you all for your feedback, sorry, I wasnt able to answer all of you sooner (although I have good inet provider, even the best have their downtimes :)

I'm glad you liked these. I'm working on next ones. I'd be happy if these would seem intesting enough for someone to model and make some textures.

Currently, I'm working on heap of flora as Pascal adivsed (actually, i am scanning pics right now).

Havent touched the Elven items right now as i have fallen deep into Green World (herbs, that is:)

I think that "little flora" - flowers, bushes and such are very much needed right now for RW to avoid Big Green Ground Syndrome.

I wanted to tell that in fact i'd be glad even to work with some modellers willing in sort of tandems (hope i spelled it right) in order to make object-creating more quick, flexible, elastic and "interactive".

Maybe even find good collegues for future projects, who knows:)

Thank you all one more time:)

Hi Nauris,

Hope you don't mind but my boyfriend decided he was going to model your orc washtub today. I skinned his model and this is what we came up with.

Hi Rosie,
actually, I dont mind at all:) I think that's the very idea of any community project - make your work accessable to any other community memeber for incarnation, modification etc.

I like the model and texture. you know, how about adding some sheet covering part of the board? as incoming players had just disturbed the washing process...:)

it always feels good to see your concept incorporated into 3D model:) its almost religious feeling :)

Hi thanks for the comments about the model. I had originally planned on putting a sheet in but never got round to putting it in, i'll try and add that later on today.

The table and a bowl are modelled and i'm sure Rosie will post a model as soon as the next one is skinned.

With the bowl i've left a seperate layer slightly higher up so that you can easily make bowls with liquid in or empty just making use of the transparency on the texture, if this isn't needed let me know and it will save a few polygons.

Polygon counts so far are:

Washtub - 238
Table - 136
Bowl - 76

Well it looks good Steven, i'm looking forward to the rest of the items...

Try to go easy on the polycount though. Wel want stuff to look good but since this is all just props to fill up a level i won't get more attention than people just noticing theer is stuff around, please try to keep that in mind when doing the models..

Just make sure you use the LOD settings on all the models..

At the moment i'm not sure how to go about making LOD's, but i'll try and look into it. I'm not too up on 3DS Max to be honest i can just about manage to export an object (sometimes correctly :)

*patiently tapping fingers hoping for a Maya exporter one day :)*

Maybe its possible to save some polys making the washing board as rectangular board. as much as is seen on shot, there's a decent number of polygons right now (I actually like the current board better, but maybe its good compromise).

after some hours i'll upload the rest of orc items (yeah, i couldnt go on woth flora until i finished the rest of "orc stuff", it just ate my heart:P), if freeservers will be up(can anyone point to decent web space provider, preferably with easy template setup as i dont know almost a thing about HTML? It doesnt have to be free, i might sacrifice some coffee cups for good web service:)

Pascal,

Just for future reference, should we just automatically lowball the polys (convicingly of course) if we're using Milkshape for objects? Or do all the Realm Wars .dts have to Max generated with LOD?

Ste updated the washtub model while I was at work today. It now has muddy bloody orc laundry on it

I also got around to making the texture for the orc table with the orc barbeque in the middle

Think im gonna finish off the orc bowl next...

finished shot of the bowl, there is alpha transparency on the liquid but Maya doesn't handle png's very well so it can't be seen there :)

looks good.. no..disgusting... good in a "model and skin" way and disgusting in a "only orcs can eat something like that" way :)))

good job stewen and rosie.
