Thinking about buying TGB

by 1234567 · in Torque Game Builder · 05/28/2009 (4:41 am) · 3 replies

I was thinking about buying TGB but I'm not sure if I should buy it with or without source code. I am pretty much a novice with the torque engines and I want to know when your making a game if you have to change the source code regularly. I am eventually going to buy the source code too, but not until it is necessary.

If you buy it without source code, the upgrade price is just the difference between with and without sourcecode versions, so if you are not sure, buy it without, and upgrade when you decide you need the source. It doesnt cost any extra.

Whether you need to change the source depends on how complex your game is. Changing the source for TGB based games is less important than for the 3d engines.

I've been working a little bit at a time for the past month developing the core of a game and have not yet needed to get into the source code so I would say you can get quite a bit done (in some cases a complete game) without needing the source code.

thank you, that's what I was thinking too that it's more needed in TGE and TGEA because it gets more complicated when you get to 3D.

I know this is a bit (a lot) off topic but could someone point me to the right direction of a thread or documentation that talks about SQL database communications for games made in TGB.
