New Level (Half-Pipe Elite Extreme)
by Hugues "iho" Magnan · in Marble Blast · 02/07/2003 (2:05 pm) · 24 replies
I created a new level based on the existing advanced level "Half-Pipe Elite". The goal of the level is jump from one half-pipe to another collecting the gems, like the original level. I believe it is a lot harder than the original one since you have to jump higher and navigate from one ramp to another.
This level is small since i used only built in ramps and items. This is my first attempt at making a level, i will try custom surfaces another time :)
Here is what it looks like:

Download zip file
Oh, my personal best time on the level is 30:78, try to beat it!
Just copy and unzip the file in your MarbleBlast directory. OSX users, ctrl-click on the "MarbleBlast OSX" package and select "Show package contents", copy and unzip the file there.
BTW, could anyone explain to me how the rotate tool work? I can't figure what the four values are for. So far i am only able to rotate something around one axis.

Breadman, here is 2 tips for the level. Place your view on top of your marble using the down arrow. This way it's easier to grab the gems and land. If you do good landings you will go higher and highter. Try to roll over two or more super speeds while holding the mouse clicked. This will use the boosts instantaneously and make the marble go real fast and high.

Thank sparky but wich key is this? I tried holding every modifier key and just about every regular keys. Is this in some documentation i never saw?Breadman, here is 2 tips for the level. If you are wondering about the numbers, allow me to copy and paste an explanation I wrote on another site:

I personally haven't used the Marble Blast editor, but if its anything like the Torque editor (which it should be, he he), then alt-click on an axis to rotate it.If you are wondering about the numbers, allow me to copy and paste an explanation I wrote on another site:
Quote:
Okay.... there are 4 numbers there.
The first number modifies the X axis
The second number modifies the Y axis
The Third number modifies the Z axis
The fourth number is the scalar.
The actual rotation you see is this:
(1st number) * Scalar = X axis rotation
(2nd number) * Scalar = Y axis rotation
(3rd number) * Scalar = Z axis rotation
If you wanted to rotate something 37 degrees about the Z axis, you would put:
0 0 1 37
So, 1 * 37 = 37 degrees around the Z axis.
Say like you wanted to rotate something 90 degrees about the Z axis and 45 degrees about the X axis. You would use this:
.5 0 1 90

Well, I didn't know teh arror keys did anything until now... thanks for the tip. I finally beat the original Half-Pipe Elite, and now I have gotten (*drum roll*), 3 gems in your new level! I'm stuck after that though... oh well, I'll get it eventually.

Update: 1:33.23 - First time I ever made it to the goal. In, uh, maybe 50 attempts.

It's kind of neat to change your viewpoint to look downward and just zip super-high into the sky. The last two gems are a pain without the power-ups.
I got it down to about 45 seconds - but for some reason it doesn't like to record this level at the score logging site. It actually made a duplicate entry for the Skyhook
Keep it up!

It would be cool if you had to use the upside-down pipe, like if you lined it up so that you could use it upside down and had to grab a crystal in there. :-)

I think it was a great level....I really liked the half-pipe levels, they were my favorite. It would be cool if you had to use the upside-down pipe, like if you lined it up so that you could use it upside down and had to grab a crystal in there. :-)

Yeah, I agree with the upside-down half-pipe comment. I actually used it many many many times before I figured out it only got me killed. Now I just have to find something else to get me out of that very bottom part... then maybe I can beat it ;)

All you have to do is use the three super speeds in the bottom half-pipe to propel you all the way back over the upside down half pipe.

Whew... after about literally 500 tries (thats being positive), I beat it with 1 minute 11 seconds on the clock. The hardest part is the very last 2 diamonds... its very hard to get any momentum on those ramps.
