aaah please.. no whyyyyy..

fix pleaaase... im quite pc savy but i just cant fix this or figure whats causing it. I recently formatted & reinstalled my WindowsXP, i've done all full mobo/vcard/OS updates (i have SP3 now). TGB just wont go D:<

before formatting, TGB, with all my trojans/malware/rootkits, ran fine, i was in the process of doing some TDN tutorials..but now with a brand new installation of WinXP, clean fresh slate, it crashes. brilliant. there goes my dream of completing my TGB project.

anyone can help ? i'm going to bump this topic 'til i get a fix.. :(

i have screenshots of the error/crash, but i guess i can't post screenies here can i ?

That's bad. How about loading your screenshot up to photobucket or something similar and then post a link here?

and i still cant figure out what is even causing it..
windows sp3? the latest ati drivers? (which i have running) doesnt make sense and its demoralizing me and turning me off from my Torque project.

This suspiciously looks like some 3rd party DLL is messing up.

Do you have some application(s) installed that hook into other applications (dialog extensions, input extensions, etc). If so, try disabling/uninstalling them.

Probably the easiest way to find the culprit would be to compile from source, run it in the debugger and see where it comes down. That requires a Pro license of TGB, though.

its a fresh installation of windowsxp, along with fully up-to-date system drivers, windows updates (incl sp3).

the only thing extra i have installed is [spyboy s&d]. i've disabled it, shutit down, disabled the process, and TGB still crashes the same with no difference.

guess i gotta leave Torque til i get a whole new thousand-dollar pc to work with.

reformatting and reinstalling windows yet again aint gonna change anything now 'cause its already a fresh reinstall. how much newer and cleanr can that get.. =\

What license of TGB do you have? Your profile shows none.

yesh i dont have any license yet, i was working off the demo version of TGB, with plans to learn TGB & finish the project within the trial 1 month period, then after that purchase a license so i could "release" the game to my friends, 'legally'..

but now the software ain't wants to work with me at all, so i guess i'm gonna put off purchasing anything.

Hmm, ok. Stupid question: is that a theme engine you are running or just a theme for XP? If it's a theme engine, it'll hook up DLLs into every application's runtime image and could be causing the crashes.

its an official release by Microsoft for windowsxp, standalone, not any theme engine like windowsblinds. (i dont like those they hog memory)

Can you give some more details about the crashes? One of the screenshots seems to indicate that TGB isn't crashing at start-up but rather with the open scene/project dialog open. Does the point at which it crashes vary? Is there some pattern or is it completely random?

presently, it crashes the moment i clik on the .exe to launch (start menu/windows explorer)

i dont even see the tgb startup window at all.

the best i get to is the startup window where it prompts "Create or Open", then when i do select either, it crashes with the same error/microsoft-report-error thingy.

Hmm, ok, still strongly looks like a 3rd party DLL crash to me.

You stated above that TGB ran fine on your previous Windows installation. What have you done differently with this installation? (aside from apps you have *not* installed) Are there applications you have installed that you had not installed before? Other differences?

Sorry, just fishing here.
