Sorry if this has been posted already. After 12 years of development, Duke Nukem Forever is officially never going to be released.. Unless another studio buys the rights to it :-)

I was not expecting to see DNF anytime soon but it's pretty sad that 3DRealms is shut down.

I find it ironic that I got a wild hair to check out their site the day before this announcement... not that I had looked at it in years. :P

That was intentional, right? They weren't really trying to make it ...

It'd be wicked cool if GG could land a post-mortem interview with the DNF team.

- I only checked the 3DRealms website last week for my twice yearly update on DNF. Duke Nukem 3D was one of the games that inspired me to get into game development. Who's going to deliver those one-liners now?

Too bad. I loved Wolfenstein and Duke Nukem. But not even Blizzard could get away with a 12 year development cycle....

I wouldn't be surprised if someone else picked this up. It seems that there is still interest in this game. Maybe E3 will tell us something?

At this point, I'm primarily interested in what went wrong, so as to learn from their mistakes and hopefully avoid repeating them. Just how much fail does it take to turn a successful franchise into an epic train wreck?

pretty pathetic that they didn't finish that thing.. I mean it was only a simple FPS right..

I don't think that any AAA title is "simple"...

@Stefan - Agreed, but the video leaves me underwhelmed. I see nice graphics and classic Duke Nukem one-liners, but nothing really new or innovative as far as game play is concerned.

UPDATE:Quote:Duke Nukem series creator 3D Realms/Apogee Ltd. has responded to publisher Take-Two's lawsuit over the incomplete state of Duke Nukem Forever, revealing that 3DR is continuing to work on the long-delayed title alongside word that a previously unknown separate Duke game was in the works at a "well-known videogame developer."

I thought Gearbox was making it in association with 3DR and publishing by Take Two?
Can anyone confirm?
