Atlas crashing in mBox CollideLine calls

I've noted this on general TGEA forums, but haven't located a fix yet. It seems something has changed in Atlas that is affecting the collision calls on it.
We aren't experiencing any crashes on 1.7.1 build, but the same atlas files in 1.8.1 will consistently crash in collideLine part of mBox (result of castray on geomstubinstance). It seems like out of our guys having these crashes, it is the quad core people, like myself. We have tried setting affinity, but to no avail either.
I'm considering this an engine flaw since it wasn't present in 1.7.1
