We have only been useing Atlas up till now in TGEA , and would like to know more detailed info about the type of terrain system that will be in Torque 3d.
I have heard that it's more like Legacy but with the ability of Atlas in that you can have unlimited non-repeating terrain? , of course limited by memory but not by Software
We need a system like Atlas for our game which is already 2 yrs into development we have already made all our Heightmap cells totaling 30x30 kms in Grome and want to port the terrain over from TGEA Atlas to Torque 3d
Hence wanting more info on the new terrain.
Thanks in advance

Wrong
The new terrain system has no paging, so you can not create the same supersized terrains anymore as all needs to fit in RAM at a time.
There is no loading of subareas as required, which allowed the Atlas terrains to become that large.

Thought from what we have seen and from what was mentioned, you can create larger terrains than the 2x2 mega terrains from TGEA while having much nicer texture variations (up to 256 textures per terrain block)

With your requirements thought it sounds more like TGEA will be the technology to finish the project.

@Richard - If you want a 30 km terrain in Torque 3D your best bet is adding your own custom paging or merging Atlas from TGEA 1.8 back in.
