WireFrame Prob

by Chad \"DigitalEagle\" Kullhem · in General Discussion · 01/19/2003 (11:17 pm) · 7 replies

I have a problem with the wireframe in 3dsmax4. It's a newbie quesion really but how do I get the wire frame from this:

Back to the old wireframe look without the diagnal lines.

I've been modeling for 1 year now, and I can't figure this out... go figure =P

Are you using openGl or DirectX?

I was using OpenGL until the new Radeon drivers started to crash it. So I switched to D3D mode and it stoped the crashing. Does the D3D cause that?

Hey it does cause it. But why? Why would the D3d wireframe be diffrent then OGL?

No idea why it does, I only know that it does. Pretty annoying huh? Max 5 does not have this problem.

Ya, it is anoying. But I'm not about ready to upgrade on acount of that. I probably will upgrade as soon as the exporters I want are made for 5.

My guess would be that D3D renders quads as 2 triangles whereas in OGL quads are just quads. Something like that anyway...

@ Joe Maruschak

Max 5 do the exact same thing here.
But since there is no real reason to run in D3D (at least not for game dev.) its not really a problem.
