GrandGames is currently developing a FPS and we could always use more programmers. If you want more game information we can send you some along with some concept art and game art. Send me an email to my personal address at michaelrbriganti@gmail.com. Thanks!

At IndieZen.org, we have a free, community driven mentoring / apprentice program geared towards game development.

We meet in IRC 9pm ET on Tues / Thurs and do a kind of Extreme Programming, with a master programmer, one or more journeyman level programmers and several apprentices with varying degrees of experience in C++.

A little background about myself:

I'm an experienced programmer with 22 years of professional software development experience and I've been creating games since over 30 years ago. I've used Torque off and on since 2001. A few years ago I was the sole programmer for the 90 day "MMO RPG contest" winner (Fractured Universe).

One of our TGEA specific tasks that we'll be doing in the near future is to integrate IndieZen's open source MMO middleware (Zen Worlds) with TGEA (and potentially T3D).

This is not a paid internship, but if you're a hard worker and you stick with it then you will gain a lot of valuable experience.

For a sample IRC session check out this IRC log.

SgtFlame is a master, hatboyZero is a journeyman, Dun is an apprentice.

Although SgtFlame wimped out early ( :P ), you can see how it continued for several hours and Dun learned quite a bit... not just learned them, but used the knowledge in a practical application.

(note, the "bzzt, wrong" is part of a joke... we like to have a lot of fun even while we're working)

Anyway, let me know if you're interested.
