MACK Question

by Krystian Lahage · in General Discussion · 03/30/2009 (6:11 pm) · 3 replies

I have been thinking about buying MACK, but the game I'm making is using a different engine. Does anyone know if this goes against the liscense?

No, it should not matter....unless you need a format not included as Source art...

Quote:You can use or modify this product according to your need for your project (games/virtual world/simulation), with the following limitations: You can't use this pack to make and sell more content packs. You can't release the source files. You can't make derived works and release or sell the source files. You don't own the content. The products are only licensed to you, they are not sold to you. All content is still copyrighted and owned by BrokeAss Games and its partnering authors.

from the EULA itself....I see nothing about 'Torque Only', let me check with the Legal Dept.

...but here's what you 'can't' do with the Pack:

Quote:2. You are not permitted to:
* Create derivative works based on this content pack for retail sale or distribution by any means other than as provided by this agreement.
* Transfer this content pack in whole or in part to another person without BrokeAss Games' written permission.
* Remove any copyright or other of BrokeAss Games proprietary notices.

We, at BAG, are very 'Torque minded' but are in no way Torque ONLY providers. We craft solutions for Poser as well, and would like to expand the market for our 3D graphics products beyond the realm of the Torque Brand line of platforms.

BTW: we're in the beginnings of some new animation libraries, stayed tuned!

Just to expand on Rex's comments... Let us know how it goes! Also what engine are you planning to use them in? If its a format that MS3D exports natively, you should have no problem once you sort out any formatting differences, such as node naming, etc.

Please keep us posted, and feel free to email me directly with any tech questions. If I can't answer them, I will get them to the right person.

Ok thanks guys. I own milkshape and I believe the engine uses .3ds so it should work. I'm just gonna raise some funds, and I will for sure purchase MACK. Thanks for the quick answers.
