I'm pretty sure the Kaydara Filmbox format does this and I think it's free (never used it, just heard about it). There's a post about it here:

Hope it helps!

Kaydara Filmbox format all the way. That's how I get Maya models to Max to Torque. Works like a charm.

Please note, there's now an official Maya exporter available in the CVS.

Hey guys,

Alex, when you say an official Maya exporter, does it mean it's final? The reason I ask is because we tried to export some animations in Maya and we got some errors. I was wondering if this is the final plug-in or it's still been worked on at the moment.

Thanks.

The Maya2DTS exporter is presently a beta release. It is still in development.

Hey Danny,

Is there a rough estimate (1, 3, 6 months?) on when the exporter will have it's final version? I know it's hard to predict any software development time, but since you are more familiar with it, I figured you might be able to tell.

Thanks a lot.

The Exporter is still being worked on, but we need people to Beta test it to identify any bugs or problems they are having with it. It will be final as soon as all the bugs are gone.

If you have bugs, send error reports to Clark at BraveTree.com

Sorry, it is official in that it is being developed by Clark at Bravetree (who also wrote the max exporter) and it is being done with GarageGames support.

Several exporters that are currently out there are being done by community members without too much interaction with GG, and so are "unofficial"

I could not get the exporter to work with Maya Unlimited version 6. Any suggestions?

You need to use a version of the maay2dts exporter plugin that is compiled specifically for Maya 6. AFAIK, there isn't an official one yet. You can always grab the exporter source from CVS and compile it yourself.

Can someone pleaaassee compile a version of Maya2dts exporter pluging for Maya version 6 and post it in resources.

I have been trying to stay away from having to install a c++ compiler on my pc. So far, so good.

Thanks a bunch!
