Minor annoyance posting comment on resource

I wrote up a comment on a resource recently and had it about ready to post. At that point I noticed the checkbox that says "Notify when new comments are posted" and I thought, seems like a good idea, so I clicked it. Now, I've seen this before but for the moment I forgot that it actually reloads the page when you do this. This wiped out all the whole message that I had typed! Luckily I had copied it to a mail program to check spelling, so I didn't have to retype. But that would've sucked :)
Since it reloaded the page when I clicked the checkbox, it sort of seemed like I had clicked a link and so I felt like I should've been able to click "back" to get back to my message, but the back button didn't help.
Not sure if this problem occurs when you post to a forum, seems like it doesn't because posting to a forum opens a new window.
