Display divise?

Hi I'm a newbie to Torque and after compiling 'torqueDemo_DEBUG' and an error message pops up saying 'Could not find a compatible display devise'. Is this a normal prob with an easy answer or am I facing an Techno apocalypse?

I get the same message when I try and run the debug on my laptop. It has a NeoMagic card in it. Slow lil 300Mhz but good for what I need it for.

That error generally means, your video card doesn't have or isn't being recognized as having a dedicated 3D processor on board. Newer drivers for the video card may help, but my ATI 3D Rage Pro (on board) was a no-go. I was considering trying to link torque with a software only build of Mesa3D, but I tend to believe it won't like that either. For the laptops it'll be somewhat hard to make it work - but for desktops 'Get a real 3D card' would be simple the answer. The GeForce4 MX series cards are cheap and work well enough.Good luck,
DonC.
