Is MC always supposed to be in the dark?

I'm running a GeForce2 GTS...

Darn those GeForce 2s. We're seeing quite a few problems associated with them. Have you updated your drivers? It is very important to update the drivers for these cards.

Upgraded drivers to 41.09 (Dec 3, 2002) still the same thing... :(

I'm going to load it on to my brother's computer and see if I get the same problem... He has an ATI Rage 128 (a card that's had inverted darkness problems like this for GLQuake in the past)...

My Brother's computer has the same problem, it's visible on the splash puzzle screen... Btw, this after I upgraded to DirectX 9.0 and put on the last drivers ATI released for his Rage 128 (from Nov 2001)...

The first 3 tutorial missions (before free falling objects) have MC in the light on my GeForce2, but at the free falling objects, the "black spot light" appears to follow MC... Argh!

I've got a patch for this bug now. It turns out that on some machines the D3D_POINT light is not behaving.

This patch is incorporated under version CR 1.1.0.1. I'll post the new download tomorrow at GGs. Hope this helps some of you.

I'm holding off on posting the CR v 1.1.0.1 version. I waiting to incorporate a fix to the Ignition Library that will allow portable computers to register GG products.

It will probably be Tuesday at the earliest.

I've got the same MC dark problem with my PNY GForce4 card (I mentioned it in another post with fuller config info. I'll check back for the patch later and see if that helps.

I've got the Black out bug fixed but GarageGames is updating their Ignition ("Registration") System this weekend so I can't release the new patch until next week. Expect it by Wednesday.

Sorry for any inconveniences

Is it a simple enough problem to describe what the issue was? (out of curiosity)

There were two small bugs related to the lights. Both bugs basically failed to initialize a D3D light structure. On most machines the uninitiallized light was ignored. However on some machines they created the Black Light!

I'm not sure why the bug wasn't seen on all machines?
