Give that past policy, and the fact that no one knows when T3D will be released, I wouldn't hesitate to buy TGEA now.

In the past, the upgrade price for TGEA was basically just the difference between the two. That is, TGE was $150, and the upgrade price to TGEA was $150 less than the full price.Give that past policy, and the fact that no one knows when T3D will be released, I wouldn't hesitate to buy TGEA now.

yes buy tgea now and there is no release date they want to release it some time this year but they have said the release date is 2009-3009. :P its because you never know what might happen when coding the engine it could take you allot longer if things go wrong.

So... uh... guys, where's T3D? You promised it'd be here by 3009! 3009 has come and gone, now what?

Surely they will give a discount for owners of TGE/A, so I bet you could purchase now and not worry about wasting your money.

I would expect it within the next 6-8 months. I recall reading somewhere that they are shooting for a mid-2009 release. That being said, it will still be done when it is done.Surely they will give a discount for owners of TGE/A, so I bet you could purchase now and not worry about wasting your money.

Now hold up im confussed. as I recall current TGEA license owners get a $495 discount, I assume that means all TGEA owners or at least the owners of the latest version of TGEA being 1.8.x get a full discount? Is the cost of Torque 3D $495 total for the basic? If so thats GREAT! :) but if your tellin me I'll have to pay extra for this newer version then so be it but that would greatly reduce my respect for GG. After all I just got the indie license for TGEA only 3 months ago. Not that GG dosen't make great stuff, they do!

But does that mean T3D Basic is free to owners of TGEA, if everything else has a delta price?

TGEA ownership gives you a nice discount at the moment, and I think the correct price for pre-orders of T3D otherwise is $800. The basic version is $250, no source. But does that mean T3D Basic is free to owners of TGEA, if everything else has a delta price?

The TGEA discount applies only to T3DPro, not Basic.

well that suckz lol. oh well T3D looks to me like its not that much diffrent than TGEA other than collida, & world editor upgrades. I assume their will still be plenty of resources & people using TGEA so no biggie

It is far beyond TGEA.

@John - Really? Have you read through all of Brett's blogs? The editor has been completely revamped, Terrain system overhauled, COLLADA support, River and Road tools, documentation written from scratch, deferred rendering, streaming SFX, and so on and so on.It is far beyond TGEA.

The release delay gives me more time to ponder it's purchase. My main point of contention is that I no longer like C++ as I'm too spoilt by C# :)

John, if you don't own TGEA, Torque 3D will cost $1000. A $495 discount if you own a $295 product is a win in my books.

as a tgea owner thats me out of the game,i just dont have the time to save the cash.cheers for your support GG,that offer shoulda been indefinate imo

If you've been thinking about buying Torque 3D, but wanted to see how the beta turned out first, this might be your time to buy. We are reducing our $200 pre-order discount to $100 starting on June 1st. If you are a current Torque Game Engine Advanced owner, this means that May 31st is your last chance to get $495 off GarageGames' next-gen 3D game engine! as a tgea owner thats me out of the game,i just dont have the time to save the cash.cheers for your support GG,that offer shoulda been indefinate imo

So I would just go to TGEA now...and then upgrade to T3D when it is out. This is mainly because I imagine it would be alot easier to port over a TGEA project to T3D then a TGE project...because I read 2 things:
From Max
Speaking of upgrading to TGEA...I realy need to do that in the very near future, before I get left behind :D

I'm pretty sure that TGEA gets you a full $295 discount from T3D Pro and Studio, but no Basic, coz otherwise they are just giving you T3D for free! as the $295 discount is more than that :DSo I would just go to TGEA now...and then upgrade to T3D when it is out. This is mainly because I imagine it would be alot easier to port over a TGEA project to T3D then a TGE project...because I read 2 things:
Quote: While T3D has similarities to TGEA 1.8.1, it has pretty much no similarity to TGE
Quote: I've made a superfast port of my TGEA stuff
From Max
Speaking of upgrading to TGEA...I realy need to do that in the very near future, before I get left behind :D

And while I fully agree that not releasing untill ready is fine. They should still give some sort of indication of where they are at. For all we know thier latest blog is the first of the feature's added and nowhere near the last.
