Escher's Challenge - Post your times here...

by Mark Frohnmayer · in Marble Blast · 12/18/2002 (12:38 pm) · 17 replies

Ok - here are some times to beat - my best scores on:

Three-Fold Maze - 32.25 seconds
Escher's Race - 46.25 seconds

These levels are cool in that there are many ways to solve them, see if you can find a faster way through...

I wish I were up to those levels! I've had a look at the thumbnails for those levels and they look scary!!

... still, I will take up the challenge when I get there. :)

Wha-wa-what !!!???
Less than a minute for that crazy Escher feeling, Three-Fold Maze level !!! ;)
No wonder the player's site launch dates kept slipping (jk, 8p), ie since you mentioned playing only MB in the past 4 months, I guess we should have read you've only been playing the Escher level for the past 4 months, 24/7 !!! ;)
Great game !!! (should finish it this weekend)
And a full review on MacGamer, if all goes well, sometime next week, just in time for the boxing day madness, hehe 8p

Edit : I still don't have a time to post for it, I keep falling off and plunging out of bounds after picking up the 3 gems... ;)

what I want to know who is the sick twisted person that came up with "survival of the fittest"?

Not to the other two levels, yet, but I got Leap of Faith down to 14.71sec. Love jumping around like that trying to hit a itty-bitty target and stopping.

Advanced Level 1, Thrill Ride: 31.37 seconds.

I really haven't had much time yet to try and analyze individual courses much -- I go after obvious shortcuts (like in Thrill Ride and Slip'N'Slide and a few others), but for the most part I just want to pass them all once, get them all unlocked, and THEN come back and get into the real nitty-gritty.

I have got to say, Half-Pipe extreme is by far the most irritating course I have come across yet. Through the whole game so far I got pretty used to playing with the free-look button held down so I could have more freedom of view, but trying to compensate for the eccentric camera movements on the halfpipes AND aim the speed powerups is getting pretty crazy.

I really want to get through them all once, though.

I haven't gotten to the 2nd one yet, but the first Escher I had a time of 2:15.20

there's a 2nd one? Aaargh. Whoever came up with those Escher levels should be drawn, quartered and bathed in hot oil. :-)

Seriously, they're mind-twisting. I'm still looking for the 3rd gem and the damn exit in the first Escher maze, and I must be at something like try 40 or 50 by now.

I know man, it took me more than 20 minutes to pass it the first time. It's insane. Once you get to know it, it's a lot easier, but it STILL gets me twisted up. That level is one of those that, while you might THINK you have the fastest time or the best way of doing it, you will NEVER really KNOW. Just because it's so complex.

My method is not the fastest, obviously, but it's 100% mr_luc; I should make a demo. It's unoriginal, just an interesting exploit rather than a well-planned attack.

I still play this game at least once a day, which is unusual for me. The last game to get this much playtime from me REGULARLY was Tribes 1.

Ha, finally did it! Took me about 3 min, but I just love the way I finally solved it - includes a few leaps of faith and risky jumps, but very funny.

Now I'm at the 2nd maze. Aargh. :-)

why should I get a screen logging mod when i can just hit print screen, open up mspaint and make a jpeg? If you think any of my times are false, then i can post a pic.

What about an Internet Score league? I wont be under the 1000 best, but anyway...

Anyone managed A24 already.

I mean that if you got the Score Logging Mod, you'd be motivated to get better times than that. :)

Oh, also, I can open up Photoshop and make a picture of Christina Aguilera being devoured by Gollum. Faking a high scores screenshot is kind of easy. Not to say that anyone would do that, but why rely on screenshots and word-of-mouth when we can have a simple, secure way of instantly uploading highscores as soon as we make them?
