by Edinson Mejia · in General Discussion · 01/22/2009 (12:43 pm) · 5 replies

Hi, I really see torque is on Windows, Mac, Linux, WII, Xbox 360 and Iphone but no PlayStation port yet...

I search but no results about if there is possibility to see in the short time a Torque port for PS3 officialy from GG.

Greetings.

PD: Sorry for the bad english.

I am not sure but I think the ps3 is free to work on. Of course, all you have to do is figure out how to port it to ps3, then ask GarageGames for permission.

There is no torque engine made specifically for the ps3. You would have to write the port yourself.

Quite a few Torque games have been ported to PS3. There's Rocketmen on PSN, and both Penny Arcade titles there too.

It's a matter of mapping the inputs and writing a proper graphics implementation, which, now that TGEA has OpenGL, is not all that difficult. All the other parts of the engine require minimal or no porting.

We've been working on Torque PS3 for some time, but even with it near finished, there's still a long process to go through with Sony to gain approval as licensed middleware providers. I suspect we'll be through that process in 2009 and free to distribute the PS3 / PSP technology we've implemented.

YES! Thanks for not ignoring the PlayStation platforms guys. I was kinda dreading learning torque if it wasn't at least remotely possible to port to ps3 and psp. They have amazing marketplaces and are much better systems then all the rest. Good luck with the RISC architecture. Look forward to purchasing TorquePS3 and TorquePSP very very soon, P.S. dont forget to make it possible to make PSN games work on both platforms with Sony's dual ownership designation. Thanks.
