I have requested the old site in other comments but purely for the functionality ... personally I have no problem with the current sites look ... I just want all the old features back. :(

Perhaps a proper polling thread title would receive a "better" response.

No agreement for silly demands, sorry ;) Perhaps a proper polling thread title would receive a "better" response.

I think what most people are missing is that the site's entire back end was re-written ... which is NO small feat ... I know, I develop web-sites and web-based applications for a living.
So yeah ... I am sure that once the team gets a handle on the hundreds of reports generated by the community ... the functionality will be forthcoming.

LOL ... I am actually quite excited about the new site ... as I said ... once they put all the stuff back it should be pretty cool.I think what most people are missing is that the site's entire back end was re-written ... which is NO small feat ... So, while those of us who normally use the GG site in certain ways, this event (site launch) is just a normal "remove the stop lights and plop tons of porta-potties in our way" speed bump in the improvement of the community.
Hang in there and you'll soon start to enjoy the parade.

A little parallel illustration... living in DC right now can make most residents a bit pissed off. Not only are normal commuting routes that I take closed, but half the stop lights have been removed from roadways, the majority of trashcans have been removed and now there's a billion port-a-potties littering downtown. Yes, it might be a bit drastic in my mind, ruin my day, and force me to change the way I get to work. But when we're all out enjoying the inauguration parade, it makes it all worth it. (I like the parade part and could care less about the inauguration part... so I'll leave politics out.) So, while those of us who normally use the GG site in certain ways, this event (site launch) is just a normal "remove the stop lights and plop tons of porta-potties in our way" speed bump in the improvement of the community.

@Quinton - Couldn't agree more. It's the functionality I miss, not the yellow color scheme. And you're right about the work involved - web programming is my day job too.

@Quinton: Agreed. It's just not that bad, people. The website got updated, and they screwed up a few things and changed a lot of things. Most of the major screwups are fixed, and the changes aren't going away. Best thing to do is to adapt and overcome, and file bug reports where you find them- the old site was not exactly smooth sailing either ;)

The old forums were lacking, and now this new layout is lacking in the extreme! I can't find my old posts, and well it just bites.

AGREE. Even after some days I don't like the new site AND especially the forums!

I am surprised actually, for example the viewing area is not dynamic at all and it demands a specific resolution ... yuck.
the layout is really hard to follow, moving between forums is no longer a simple matter but a process.
good news tho, I don't think I will be trolling the forums to help the noobs or bash the meatheads.
so I am sure many will be pleased with that so perhaps it was a good move? :)
anyhow good luck, this forum format is terrible.

For all those who're missing the content, I recommend searching in google and clicking on "cached" next to the site link.
I was looking for the QuArK setup tutorial on garagegames but it kept taking me to the new site. The cached page is the one stored on the 21st of December.
Cheers,
N.K

I just want a better forum system, phpbb or invision power board. these forums are just plain and boring.

i can understand wanting to update the look & feel of the site - but why the hell would you try to reinvent the wheel when in comes to them forum? it wasn't great to begin with, and now its replaced with this entirely clunky and annoying system. as stated above, there are already numerous forums out there that are tried and true - and way better than what we're dealing with now.

seems to me they tried and failed, all the old one needed was a new style not a whole new system it worked at least
Torque Owner Hewster
Hewsoft
although I had issues with those (search function mainly)
