Importing DTS Shapes in Constructor - reloading scenes

by Bernd Schaumburg · in Artist Corner · 01/15/2009 (11:54 am) · 5 replies

I'm using Torque Constuctor 1.0.51, have some problems, maybe I'm wrong. I build up my scenes for example a house with windows. To have transparent windows, I import them as DTS file into my Constructor scene. I do that over the button "Import static Mesh". There are two different types of windows, so I have to import a second window. Until now all is fine. I save my scene as a csx file. Next time I want to build up my scene, I reloaded it and Constructor told me about "Missing File". I understand that question and show Constructor the root to the directory of one of my windows. Contructor loads now also the second window DTS file from a different directory, so my scene is complete again. Now my questions:
1) Is that the right way?
2) Do I have to store all of my DTS files for one scene into one directory, maybe into the root of my Constructor installation?
3) Is there a way to preferences in Constructor, to tell him where to found my DTS shapes?
Thank you for all answers!
Bernd

Hi Bernd!

Are your DTS files in a folder under the main constructor folder (Like "staticshapes")? That usually makes it happy.

Also - just curious, Are you still working with Michael?

Hi Jaimi,
I've put my folders, each for every DTS file, directly into the "staticshapes" folder. But there is an other problem. If I load the one of my windows DTS shape into the scene, it happens, that there is only this one of two DTS shapes in my scene.

Hi Jaimi, I forgot, yes we are still working together. Mike and me remember the old time with 6DX, that great engine!!

@Bernd -

I'll try to figure out what is going on in constructor. Until the website settles down, I probably can't post an update though. I'll post a note on here when I get something figured out.

Also - do you have a website? I'm interested to see what you're working on now!

Jaimi, yes we have, it's our old URL: www.twinbits.de! But we reconstruct our website to a CMS system, so the website is down. It needs some days more to make the site ready again. I will give a hint....
