iTorque for iPhone

by ooftish.com · in General Discussion · 01/14/2009 (6:09 pm) · 3 replies

I am trying to build a small game on iPhone. I have heard about iTorque product online. When this is going to be released? What are features of this product? I am looking for skeletal animation and 3D gaming features for my game. If you have some inside post it so.
Thanks and Have a Nice Day

I don't know much about it, but here is what I do know:

Do NOT get an iTGE/iTGB license just yet. iTorque is very slow at the moment unless you make your game entirely out of coding (not script).

I read in a blog that the newest version (not sure if it has been released yet) fixes the problem.

Thanks. For your reply. You have saved me big dough and I was ready to make a purchase. And not much of helpful tutorials on this board for IPhone. I was searching whole forum I did not get any key word hit for iphone. May be I will wait till they have stable product. Do you recommend any good and stable developing tool for iphone. I have seen Unity, Sio2interactive and oolong. I am debating whether to use existing packages or build a own one. I was mainly looking for skeletal animation and 3D.

Purchase TGE. Make a non iPhone version of the game. By the time you are done the new version will be released (infact it might be released now, I haven't checked the blogs yet). And once you finish the computer version, then the only changes you will need to make are on the gameplay.

99% of all game engines support skeletal animations. They support 3d.

Remember, you need a game engine that can run on OSX. Since that is the only platform the iPhone SDK supports.

Unreal is not a good option, especially for something that doesn't need high-graphics. Unity is a good option, but it will take alot of engine rewrite to run on the iPhone.

Torque will probably be your best option, mostly because of the cost and how fast games can be made on them. And iTorque works right out of the box.
