Xna Vs. Torque

by Jaren Watkins · in General Discussion · 01/12/2009 (9:47 am) · 3 replies

I just had a short question.

How does Microsofts XNA Engine Stand up to Torque?

Cause XSI has realy good support for XSI!

Also it's realy easy to get your games onto the Xbox!

I dont know very much at all about XSA so I'm saying all this blindly! But I was just wondering if XSA can make games comparable with Torque?

There is actually TorqueX, which is an XNA Engine and it shoudl be soon released compatible for XNA 3.0. You cannot compare XNA and Torque; XNA is a framework, basically it's a very nice c# wrapper around DirectX9.0c, while Torque is a complete game engine, which is built upon a framework such as XNA (in the case of TorqueX).

Yes, XSI has great support for XSI. Definitely though, as Andy has stated, XNA is *not* a game engine, you need to be pretty good at C# to use it.
