Static shapes = good, Animations = BLECH

Ok, I am making a game with the PSK on TGB.

I have started a small testing area with platforms and basics:

Anyway, now I am ready to add some animated objects. The only problem? I don't know how to make animations!

Can anyone tell me how you make good animations? I picked up a few drawing books, and I know what I want my character to look like. Please also note that I do NOT want to use a 3d modeling program.

Thanks, but those have very poor graphics and only 3 frames. It also doesn't have the correct animations.

I played around with it, but It has very few frames.

It does, but it allows you to move on and work on the game. Once you have a good game going, it's pretty easy to find somebody to make better character/animations.

I can't pay anyone to make animations. I am 14 years old, I have no cash.

I'd worry more about making a game that's fun to play. Once you've got a good start on that, you may find somebody in your area (or online) who can help with the graphics for a portion of the game sales.

I already have the plans of levels and details on my computer, I am implementing them now. The PSK gets rid of 90% of the scripting I need to do, and there are many musicians that give away free music.

Right now the only thing I need now is a tutorial on how to make my own sprites from scratch. I know what I want them to look like, I just don't have the knowledge on how to make them.

I asked you this before, in another thread - when you say "make", to what exactly are you referring? Drawing? Animating? Arranging the frames into a cell sheet? Importing the cell sheet into TGB?

Exactly... I do not know the steps of it.

It isn't creating a cell sheet or importing it into TGB.

I don't need to know how to draw, but how to animate.

When you break it down, animations are just a series of individual drawings, just like a movie is a series of photos. If you already know how to draw, the next step is figuring out what to draw. For that, you need to study motion and timing, so you get an idea of how to pose your character in each animation frame.

This seems like a fairly decent tutorial for getting started.

Well I found a rigged human for blender. I think I may try that 3d trick many people were telling me about.
