Is TorqueX right for me?

by Brandon · in Torque X 2D · 01/08/2009 (11:27 am) · 4 replies

I'm interested in 3D only. A lot of the tutorials and info seems to point that torqueX is a more 2D oriented engine. Or hopefully I'm mistaken. Can someone shed some light on this? Is torqueX a full fledged 3d engine as well?

I have not bought it yet so only thing I've looked at is the public information. But I'm just wondering if I'll find it useful for what I want to do which is 100% 3D.

Thanks

Torque X supports 3D and has its own 3D toolset. We haven't released it just yet though, so keep an eye on the website for when it releases. In the mean time, read up about it by checking out John Kanalakasis' blog postings here. There are a bunch of blogs from him detailing various aspects of TX 3D.

The 3D toolset has not been released? Or 3D support overall? After some more research I see that the book by John K. covers 3D. Am I able to get a hold of whatever he uses to get started?

Thanks

The 3D Toolset has already been through an open beta and is in some closed testing right now, but there is no official release date at this time.

If I were to buy the pro + builder now do I get the 3d tool set when it is released, or will that be a separate purchase? What about when 3.0 comes out do I get that as well?

Thanks
