Human/Elvan Altar

I couldn't find any concepts for this, so I just made it up...I'm not sure if it'll fit with the style in mind for the human/elvan environments, as I couldn't find much concept material on that either.
Anyway, heres the prog shot. My limit was 500 polys and 2 256x256 textures. This is just under 300 polys and uses one 256x256 and one 128x256. (well, right now it uses 2 256x256's but I can strip a lot of space out of one of them....).
The main altar is made so it looks like it's floating (it's not, look at the back of it) when you're running around infront of it, which is a nice little effect :).
I just have to make another one or two LOD's and then I'll submit.

Oh, this will use some cool particle effects to have a fire either side of the altar (in those little things on the side) and a fire in each of the pillars. Assuming that's not too many particle effects to have in one scene...I've noticed they can have quite an impact on FPS when viewed close up.
Though I think it's impossible, I've imagined this with heavy mist falling out of the bottom holes in the pillars, and causing a ground fog, which would improve the "floating altar look" even more.

Comments? Suggestions?

lookin very nice - I like all the writings you did on the pillars, and stuff. Some good details in that for in-game use.

Looks really nice, particularly the cloth over the altar. However, I'd like a little more detail on the larger pillar in the center, perhaps a little statue or something? It looks a bit plain now IMHO, and some image of the local divinity would certainly fit in. Good job :)

Taharez I was about to suggest that same thing. Yes more detail and ornateness to this structure, if it's important enough for the people of these races to build then it's important enough for them to make it truely outstanding and something that their God(s) will appreciate.

A statue or something carved or formed in the central pillar would help. Also perhaps some steps or stacked platforms that the altar itself sits upon would be helpful too? Maybe a few golden structures or symbols on the central (or all) of the platforms? What about burn marks on the stone surface of the two structures that look as though they are to emit light? Golden inlays on the structures themselves? Perhaps make the writing on the structures larger and more pronounced, from a distance or quick glance it makes the structure look like its build from pieces of stone.

Well those are my quick thoughts from a glance.

I suggested that the runic scripts would light up if it was a .dts. :D

If anything, there needs to be a "wrapping" structure around the center pillar. I sort of imagine the "crest" on the bridge of the Enterprise on ST:TNG, except... well, not quite the same thing.
