Nuclear particle/art request

by Edward · in Artist Corner · 12/02/2008 (7:21 am) · 2 replies

Greetings , I have been looking over the forums trying to figure out which area would be the best place to put this, as its not quite a modeling request, not quite a particle request, and probably a lot more complicated then I figure.

Has anyone created a accurate nuclear blast effect for a weapon or AFX, or just as a cool particle effect. Looking for someone to contract to create such a script or has one and that would be willing to license a copy to me for use in my own game.

Id put it in a job, or afx but there has been little responses on past so i figure id try a different venue and see if anyone was interested in taking the challenge or sharing the wealth of knowledge. Anyone up to the challenge?

Nivida have created products and SDK's specifically for particle effects which includes both DirectX and OpenGL, although going down the shiny DirectX route will kill out people that have a Mac or running Linux (although I am not sure, because someone would have tried to make it at least 90% compatible with other Operating Systems).

Above is a link for particle effects software, I do not know if it is compatible with Torque, but I will try to create the effect you're looking for.
Three questions:
1. What kind of weapon, is it from a vehicle, structure or a unit?

2. Size? Enough to wipe out the map? Or just enough space to kill a few units?

3. When do you need it?

1) this would be a weapon launched weapon in particular

2) just a small 1 megaton blast, to level say a small building. or maybe 25 feet radius max.

3) We can talk particulars, but asap would be the honest answer, but with christmas, i know people either are a)lots of free time coming up or b) got too much family stuff going down. Also I have had someone else interested in the job as well. But if your interested please by all means i cant see a nuclear blast effect going to waste by any stretch of the imagination. If you have a messenger check my profile and get in touch with me. :)
