XSI Animations to Max

by Byder · in Artist Corner · 11/25/2008 (5:52 am) · 8 replies

Hey All,
Since the current XSI exporter does not fully export sequences to DSQ files... I was hoping to find someone on the forums with a stable reliable pipeline to export animations from XSI to Max
I am going to go and export the Collada and FBX pipelines now... but maybe someone has it down already?!

Try Crosswalk, it should work fairly well. If you dont have it installed (for max) the Downloads page on Softimage are down till December so...

Hey Apparatus,
Actually playing with it right now... so far so good (on a bouncing ball, respecting my animation curves, etc)... its ignoring my detail2 node (yet exports a detail3 node just fine)!!

Next fun part will be with a skinned, rigged character!

Check this link for a skinned character. Details work just fine, do you have a detail2 null and a your_name2 polymesh object?

Hey, reading that thread right now too, haha! :D
Erm I have a detail2 null, not any polymesh objects for the node structure (only the mesh and the bounds)
Its not greatly important because we don't often use the default level or 2 for LODs.

ps. Actually using your little Toolbar Script to generate the node structure. Thanks for that!!! :D

You have an image (or two i think) showing the full hierarchy of an exported model in the XSI Beta download thread. Check that up. AS far as LOD, I am using 250 (closest) 120 and 10 (farthest) for details; Works fine in stock demo.

Yup!
LODs are custom to every model and circumstance... thanks for your help :D

The XSI exporter has been pretty much feature complete now and includes support for exporting .DSQ files. More Info here
