Constructort tips

Does anyone have any tips when using constructor?

I've recently started using it and I find incredibly awkward to use...its not like any modelling software I used I was hoping that when they were building it that they would maybe follow in the Radiant/Hammer style of construction.

Any hints or tips in using it would be great as I'm just fighting with the program at the moment. I did look at a few examples....like the church. I don't know how you could build anything like that inside Constructor...it seems so clunky and the camera seems to be so....horrible.

I know there must be something I'm not getting. I'd use maya if I could :p I did notice there were maya2map converters but I can't find anything for maya8.5 and I probably wouldn't want to risk the problems that could occure when going down that route.

Cheers

Everything about Constructor

There you'll find a link to Apparatus' Interior Guide pdf that he made. It's a good beginner's guide to Constructor - probably the best. He nicely explains the reasoning and methods behind proper CSG modeling (which is very different from normal 3d modeling) and it also has a practical example of creating an interior in Constructor, an aircraft hangar that he in turn released as a free content pack to SKD owners.

The next tip would be to make sure you've got the most current version of Constructor which is 1.0.51. If not the update patch can be found on TDN. You can also find a few other guides by browsing the Constructor specific forums.

The new Documentation pages (under Level Editing you will find Constructor).

Here you can find a brief Interior Guide.

Ah cheers

That pdf has helped alot....it says you can select a face and copy it's texture information to another face but doesnt actually tell you how to do that. Does anyone know the key combinations?

I've also found switching to the freecam "shortcut=C" made it a hell of alot easier

cheers guys

Ctrl+C copy the selected face texture info
Ctrl+V paste over another selected face. Usually you need to do the operation twice; first it applies the texture, second time it orients it to match position/scale.
