TGEa 1.8 and Torque 3d

OK, so its been finally revealed that there will be a price increase with the release of Torque 3d as early as next year. Now comparing it to the similiar release of 1.5.2, which also included the lighting pack. When can we expect to see a competant listing of what will be included within that listing. If you guys have made a annoucement, then you have some clue of whats going to be added and whats going to be taken out.

I can only assume that your not just going to raise the price and not include a list of awesome goodies. Its not your M.O. at Garage Games, something thats really kept me a fan of your sales plan. But as a producer, who is looking at the next engine. I want to project my next Projects engine, ahead of time. For example, if i buy the SSAO kit (www.garagegames.com/products/322/) will that be a feature that will be included, and if so will i be discounted like AFX was for TGEa, if i already owned TGE and AFX.

Im not bugging about the price increase, i am just wondering whats been determined for the "next generation" for those that have to make a business plan for next year. (I know, it doesnt seem like alot of us run there games like a business, but some of use try). I would like to be able to look at my next phase of my project and say, ok, in 6 months we can start evaluating the next engine, or do we have to sit back and wait till one day we get a list and its released like that. I will also take this reply in a email if that is better suited for said confidentiality of the future releases.

To give you a background on why i ask this. 2 years ago when i started Fantasci, we went with 1.5.2 TGE 1.0.2 AFX, Which at the time was and is the latest release for TGE. Other then the AFX part being obsolete, due to jeffs tireless work, I have started feeling like TGEa is now matured enough as a 3rd party engine to use for our own project. but in the last year there has been 4 releases of TGEa varients. Which isnt very stable when your considering a port. We are looking at 1.8 as the next bleeding edge option, but if Torque 3d will include a host of other items. It would be benificial to know that rather then focusing on integrating 3-4 products on my own time, i can wait for 6 months to a year and get it as a improved edition, and focus on my current project in time for the evaluation of the next TGEa to pass muster for work to begin.

Thanks.

I am not 100% sure of the accuracy of this information, so I would wait until a GG employee confirms or denies it, but I think that they are looking for longer term stability in their core.

A lot of the recent TGEA work has focused on bringing a lot of community desired elements into the engine. Once they start to get these features stable, then we will probably see fewer short cycle releases. If this starts to happen, there might be long periods without the engine being updated (except for minor point releases to fix ongoing issues). I don't think that this should be taken as a bad thing, instead quite the opposite.

As awesome as the dev team is, the kind of release cycle that they have been keeping will take a lot out of them. My hat goes off to them!
